Boite Schools Chorus 2024

What is the Boite School’s Chorus?

This multi-choir event celebrates the music of diverse cultures and culminates in a concert at Melbourne Town Hall. This year’s theme “Los Niños - The Children” presents powerful repertoire as a call to action, inspiring positive change to our approach to environmental issues.

WHO?                        Years 1 – 6 students*

WHAT?          Big choir concert!

WHERE?      Melbourne Town Hall

WHEN?         Thursday 8th August, 1.00pm

Boite Brekkie Fundraiser – Thanks again to all who supported this fun event! Thanks to our partent helpers and our local business sponsors – Toscanos, Bakers Delight and Coles, Victoria Gardens. We raised over $650 through your generosity so are on our way to assisting students keen to take part. At present there are 28 students keen to be involved; please confirm your interest with Mr Ru this week if you’ve not yet done so. If you couldn’t make it to the fundraiser but would like to make a donation, please contact the office.

On-line Zoom rehearsal – Congratulations and thanks to those students who sacrificed play time last week to attend the first combined choirs BSC rehearsal via Zoom. It was long (!) but lots of fun as well – a great insight into what we’ve got to look forward to!

WHAT NEXT?

  • Rehearsals
    • Every Wednesday, 2.30-3.00pm in MPR – students need to commit to weekly rehearsals from Wednesday 22nd May*
    • In-person Polishing Rehearsal - Saturday 27th July - Church of All Nations, 180 Palmerston St Carlton, 10-30am-12.30pm. All participating students are expected to attend this rehearsal. They will be supervised by Bernadette and a Trinity staff member. More information to follow.
  • Final participant list to be finalised by Tuesday 11th June
  • T-shirt competition… entries close 29th May (see below)

*Remember…any Trinity children from Years 1-6 can be involved in the BSC. They do not need to be a current member of the choir to take part. Those involved however, will need to commit to the full period of weekly rehearsals for its preparation. Those students who chose not to take part in the online rehearsal will not be allowed to take part in the final event (excepting those absent from school that day). Also, children can still be members of Trinity Voices and not take part in the BSC, if they so choose. They will be exposed to the repertoire however since weekly rehearsals provide the only opportunity to prepare the material.

For more information, feel free to contact Mr Ru at school, or Bernadette on 0414 858 738 or dettelannen@gmail.com, and watch this space!

T-shirt Competition

“In alignment with our commitment to raising awareness about environmental issues, we are seeking artwork that reflects the impact of climate change on a global scale. The chosen winner's artwork will be prominently displayed on The Boîte website and featured in our public program for the performance.

Additionally, the winning image will be transformed into a T-shirt transfer for all choir members to have printed on their shirts for the show. We envision the artwork to feature a globe with Australia included! This can also be surrounded by either children holding hands, or other imaginative elements that symbolize the effects of climate change.

Here are some guidelines for the artwork:

  • Full-color design- simple bold designs work well for the audience to see!
  • Size: A4 -or A3 paper.
  • Pencil, crayons, pastels or textas
  • Theme: Climate change, with a focus on the globe
  • Imaginative ideas surrounding the globe are encouraged

The winner will be selected by The Boite staff, and the winning artwork will be announced on June 4th.

Please ensure that all submissions are submitted by Wednesday May 29th via a photo of the artwork. Entries will then be emailed to the Boite. Contact Mr Ru for more information.
