Winter Inter-school Sports

Friday 7th of June, 2024

On the 7th of June, the whole Year Six cohort represented Good Shepherd in Winter Inter-school Sports. The Winter sports were soccer, footy and netball. There were three netball teams, two soccer teams and one footy team. All the kids were very excited and couldn’t wait for the day. We all played at different locations against other schools and had some good results with the Netball A winning every game!

Netball A

Two netball A teams went to Mulgrave Primary School and played a few fun games of netball! Both teams played very well!

The players in the first A team were Eva, Jaidyn, Emily, Yasmin, Ava, Annabelle, Milla, Natalia and Sienna K. We played 5 games. Some were very rough and close but we still managed to win all of our games. The most tough and exciting game was against St Justin’s. Our first game was against the other Good Shepherd team, which was a great way to start a long day of netball.

In the other A team there were eight players including Vanessa, Seraphina, Tiffany, Shania, Jodie, Angelina, Mackenzie and Kate. They played six games and managed to win two. This was a fantastic effort because some of the players were playing netball for the first time.

During our breaks, we were able to support the other teams, eat, play and rest. We were very proud and tired after all the excellent games we played and are looking forward to doing it again next week!

Netball B

The 7th of June, a cold frosty morning yet a highly anticipated day, some of our Year Six students participated in Interschool Sport for netball B. Held at St Justin’s school, the event brought together team from  various schools in the area, eager to showcase their skills and teamwork. These schools included Mulgrave, Albany rise, St John’s Vianney #1, St John’s Vianney #2, Brandon park, and others. The players included Linaya, Ellie T, Ellie N, Giu, Taylor, Victoria, Tamara, Madeline and Caitlin.

In the first game, Mulgrave Primary threw a fierce battle at us, ending in the final score, 2-9. In the second game, we almost had a tie, but in the end we just made it and the score was 3-2. The third game against Albany Rise ended with a score of 9-0. Although we left the first game with our heads hung low with disappointment, we won the second and third game, feeling energetic and unstoppable.

We appreciate Mrs. Pal for taking care of us during Interschool Sport. It was an exhilarating day for us, which highlighted the importance of good sportsmanship, teamwork and persistence, values our school encourages.

Overall the netball matches were a thrilling experience for all involved, making it a memorable day for everyone . We would also like to thank St Justin’s for hosting the matches. We are grateful to all our teachers for organizing this amazing event, and we hope we will have more exciting opportunities like inter-school sports again in the future.

Football

The Interschool Sport Football Team went to Mulgrave Reserve to play footy. This week we only versed one school called St Leonard’s. Our team lost, 24-26, and it was a really close game. The place was enormous and we all had lots of fun and we were proud that we nearly bet the other school. We went back to school at about 2:30pm and we were all grateful to be back and grateful to have Interschool Sport. We all had lots of fun and proud moments. The people who scored goals were Hughie and Jacob. Nearly everyone was new to footy but we all did an amazing job.
