Principal Message

Dear Parents and Guardians

We are certainly feeling the winter chill and have noticed many students away unwell at the moment.  Please stay warm and well.

This week we started Parent - Teacher Interviews, such an important component of the Home and School Partnership.  They will continue next week and an important reminder the students finish at 1pm on Wednesday 19 June to facilitate these interviews commencing at 1:30pm.  Camp Australia will open early of this day for students requiring care. Please take some time to read all about Semester 1 reports and Learning Portfolios further in the newsletter.  Thank you for your support in reading, signing and returning the Parent Code of Conduct forms.  Respectful relationships are so important in all environments.

On Friday 31 May staff were involved in a school closure day around reflecting on the School Improvement Process for the last 4 years as part of our School Review this year.

It is important to celebrate the successes and also work towards planning future directions for our school for the next 4 years.  Staff worked in teams to evaluate and find evidence in the areas of: Religious Dimensions, Learning and Teaching, Student Wellbeing, Leadership and Management and School Community.

We will be moving to a digital school portal called nForma Portal next term.

nForma Portal has been designed as a user-friendly way for schools to communicate with parents with ease. The Portal gives parents access to a platform that will contain everything they need in one place.  I encourage you to read all about this further in the newsletter.

Over the past month we have continued to conduct Foundation/Prep enrolment meetings and it has been lovely to connect in with both current and new families.  We would like to wrap up the enrolment process for 2025 by the end of this term so a final reminder for our current families to submit forms for any children commencing school next year.

It has been great to see many opportunities for parent engagement this term.  Our Parents and Friends are excited about the upcoming Trivia night, the School Advisory Council has prepared a report for you and our students continue to shine in their learning and confidence at our fortnightly assemblies.  Our Year 3 students will host the next assembly on Monday 17 June.

There are a number of staff currently taking leave or on leave early next term.

They include Ms Carmen Habuda 2H, Melissa Belanji (Literacy) and Mrs Miranda Barron (FB).  We also say goodbye at the end of this term to Rufina Kim, who works as an LSO one day per week.  Rufina has decided to dedicate her time to focus on her university studies. We thank Rufina for her contributions to Good Shepherd over the past 3 years.

Term 2 will finish for students on Friday 28 June at 1pm.

Students return on Monday 15 July for another action packed term.

Have a great weekend.
