Principal Message

Dear EMC Community,

I am delighted to share some highlights from our recent endeavors:

Last Saturday, May 25th, 88 dedicated students, along with younger siblings, parents, and supportive staff members (Jesse Lewis, Casey Howell, Sarah Bodley, Chelsea Issa and Gabie Landofi) generously gave their time to raise an impressive school record total of $3,358.45 for the Salvation Army's Red Shield Appeal door knock. Congratulations to the Bindana sub school for leading the charge with the most student involvement!

Our Year 9 students had an enriching experience during the 'Subject Supermarket Day,' where they explored the diverse array of programs, VCE, and VET classes offered at our college. Special thanks to the careers team, led by Lexie Knight and Kathryn Dafter, for their exceptional leadership in organising this event, as well as for guiding our students through career planning sessions in the Student Attributes Program and upcoming Year 10 into 11 course counseling days. We also extend our best wishes to our Year 10 and 11 students awaiting exam results.

As we approach the end of semester 1, we warmly welcome over a dozen new students to the EMC family, coming from different school settings. It is heartwarming to see so many families attend our frequently fully booked college tours thanks to the leadership of our class captains and enrolment officer, Kylie Tempest. We are confident in their successful transition to our college.

Our VCE drama class, VET dancing performances, and the Specialist Program ‘Performing Arts Collective’ (PAC) dazzled audiences during the senior school nights and Middle School Showcase. Those who attended the three separate evenings were treated to outstanding performances. Additionally, I had the privilege of joining our PAC students at the Ferngully Lodge camp in Healesville for three days to further nurture their talents.

On Tuesday, May 28th, Ms. Landolfi and 49 student leaders organised the Langwarrin Young Leaders Day. This marked the second year our college captains facilitated workshops for over 100 student leaders from Woodlands, Langwarrin Park, and Langwarrin Primary Schools. Witnessing newly appointed leaders come together from 4 different schools to enhance their leadership skills and see our college captains end the day with a Q & A session was truly inspiring.

Lastly, our gratitude goes to the Wellbeing Team, Koorie Student Leaders, and Equality Alliance group for hosting a series of meaningful events during National Reconciliation Week and IDOHOBIT Day. These cultural awareness activities play a vital role in celebrating our diversity, and we thank all participants for their respectful engagement.

Kind regards,

Assistant Principal
