News & Information

Important Reminder: Parking @ LCS

We would like to remind everyone about the importance of adhering to our school's parking policy, especially in light of a recent complaint from the local council regarding vehicles speeding at Windsor Park.

It is crucial that we all abide by the posted speed limit to protect the safety of our children and other users of this shared space. Failure to do so puts our ability to continue using Windsor Park for drop-off and pick-up at risk.

Please take a moment to review the attached parking policy, which outlines the guidelines and expectations we must follow. Compliance with this policy is not optional - it is essential for the wellbeing of our school community and our continued use of this facility.

We urge everyone to drive slowly and carefully when entering and exiting the park and to ensure that you park in a safe manner within the designated areas. Let's work together to address this issue before it escalates further.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Regional Champs

Our LCS Science and Engineering Team won the regional round of the competition at UTAS yesterday! 🎉

The team, made up of Year 9 and 10 LCS students, has given up many lunch times practicing for this event. Their hard work and dedication have paid off, as they have qualified for the state competition on Monday.

A big thanks to Mr Jose, Mrs Armstrong and Mrs Ferguson for supporting the team throughout the day.

Jon Madin Visits LCS

Last week we thrilled to welcome back the one and only Jon Madin to LCS!

Jon has been a regular visitor to our school for years, and his energy and passion for music-making are truly infectious. During his sessions, Jon guided each class to use his unique, whacky musical instruments.

After the workshops, the classes came together to perform the pieces they had learned during their workshop. The resulting sounds were a perfect blend of creativity, teamwork, and pure joy.

Thanks for visiting, Jon!

Author Visit: Martin Chatterton

Last week, our Secondary School was privileged to have world-renowned author and illustrator, Martin Ed Chatterton visit LCS.

The audience were inspired, as Martin shared a variety of fun stories, which provided many teaching moments during his engaging and fun presentation. A highlight was his 'live' drawings of students and staff.

"Martin is skilled at delivering key educational motivation contained within an entertaining external package and is particularly adept at engaging reluctant readers" - www.worldofchatterton.com

From the PE Department

On Friday 10th May we took a team of 25 riders to the annual All-Schools Mountain Biking event held @ Tolosa Park, Glenorchy.

Each team member participated in the Downhill time trial and the Cross-Country race. We had a couple of outstanding results in the downhill with Mackenzie Foster placing 3rd and Michel Sebastian placing 2nd! An amazing achievement! Our best finish in the Cross Country was Marnus Lombard who finished 8th.

It was an epic day! We departed LCS @ 6am and returned @ 6:30pm and fun day was had by all.  All riders even received a $20 myride gift voucher for taking part. A big thanks to the parents who came along, Amada Foster, Scott Midson, Kim Bonner and Tim Murfet.

NSATIS Coaches Needed - Term 3

I know that a general call out for helpers isn’t often successful, but I will try it anyway!

Our Term 3 sport sign-ups are closed, and we have enough interest in the following sports to enter teams in the NSATIS rosters:

  • NSATIS Senior Girls Volleyball – Monday afternoons (Term 3)
  • NSATIS Senior Girls Soccer – Wednesday afternoons (Term 3)
  • NSATIS Senior Boys Soccer – Wednesday afternoons (Term 3)
  • NSATIS Senior Girls Netball – Wednesday afternoons (Term 3)

This is a call out to see if there are any parents/grandparents/family friends that are interested in coaching? Or perhaps you have a good recommendation of someone I could contact to help out with coaching?

Happy to chat if you have any further questions, feel free to send me an email boskerr@lcs.tas.edu.au and I will call you back!
