Secondary School
This week may have been short, but we have filled it with activity in the Secondary School. Year Ten exams are well underway, and I commend those students who were away at hockey or other sporting commitments over the weekend. Managing time effectively is a necessary skill in the senior secondary years, and this cohort seems to be doing that particularly well.
Their course selection process is underway, and our information sessions are scheduled for next week: Parent information session, Tuesday 11 June, 6.00pm to 7.15 pm in the library. The student session will be on Wednesday during periods five and six.
Elsewhere, students are completing their final assessments as we prepare marks and grades for the semester reports and students are attending Academic Support and Homework Club in impressive numbers. Reports for all students in the Secondary School will be released at the end of this term. Parents are invited to join us on Monday 15 July, to meet with teachers for further feedback and to set goals for Semester Two.
Further information to come.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the kind messages I have received following the announcement of my resignation last week. I have loved my time at Great Southern Grammar and will always be grateful for the opportunities I have been offered, the challenges I have been set and most importantly the students, staff and families I have had the privilege to work with. I plan to remain connected to the school and be a life-long champion of all that we do here.

Baudin House News
In recent Baudin news, we have a few important updates to share. With Mr Ferreira stepping up as the acting Head of Secondary School during Mrs Turnor's long service leave, we are excited to welcome Mrs Mackenzie as the Acting Head of Baudin for the next semester. Mrs Mackenzie brings a wealth of experience, having worked in boarding, secondary administration, and being actively involved with the Griffins Netball club over the past few years. We are confident that Baudin will be in excellent hands under her leadership.
In the past few weeks, many of our upper-secondary Baudin students have been diligently preparing for their exams. We wish the best of luck to the Year Ten students who have exams this week and the Year Eleven students who will face their exams next week. Additionally, we extend our congratulations to all the Year Twelve students who have successfully completed their Semester One exams and ESTs. Your hard work and dedication are truly commendable.
Our five wonderful Baudin homerooms have been bustling with activity. In Mr Barnett's homeroom, students have been writing weekly gratitudes, fostering a positive and reflective mindset. Mr Gibson's homeroom has seen some intense footy tipping competitions, bringing a spirited sense of camaraderie and fun. These activities, along with many others, have created a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere around the Tamungup Centre each morning.
Following our earlier victory in the Interhouse Cross Country event, the enthusiasm among our students has been palpable, not just in their academic pursuits but also in their cocurricular activities. This includes our Values and Christian Studies (VACS) program, where many students have been engaging in community service. Their contributions range from gardening at St John’s Church, tutoring younger students, coaching sports, and various other acts of service. These efforts embody the spirit of giving back and the importance of community involvement.
As the term draws to a close, many of our students are eagerly looking forward to Country Week. This exciting event allows them to travel to Perth for a week, competing in various sports against other schools from around the state. Last year, Grammar returned with a triumphant victory, and we are hopeful that our students will help secure another win this year. The anticipation and excitement for Country Week is building, and we wish all our participants the best of luck.
In conclusion, the past few weeks have been a period of hard work, preparation, and excitement for Baudin students. With strong leadership, dedicated teachers, and enthusiastic students, Baudin continues to thrive. We look forward to the achievements and experiences the next semester will bring under Mrs Mackenzie’s guidance. Let's keep the Baudin spirit high and continue supporting each other in all our endeavours.
