Religious Dimension

Religious Dimension- School Closure Day

As you are aware on Friday 7th June, when the students had an extra long weekend the staff were involved in professional learning. Staff were involved in continuing to develop their knowledge of applying contemporary approaches to teaching and assessing Religious Education.

Catholic education seeks to provide students with a high-quality education that is inspired by the example of Jesus Christ and fosters the development of the whole person, forming individuals with more than just skills, but with the virtues to live life as transformative agents in our communities.

Staff also looked at the Catholic Social Teachings and how these can continue to be incorporated.

Catholic Social Teaching is our moral compass, guiding us on how to live out our faith in the world. Our faith calls us to love God and to love our neighbours in every situation, especially our sisters and brothers living in poverty.

By blending Catholic Social teaching through our curriculum our children gladly embrace their personal responsibility to care for our common home, pursue the common good and serve those in need. At St Joseph’s, Catholic Social Teaching is incorporated into our curriculum. Children are asked to put their faith into action and reflect on how their learning enables them to do so.

During the afternoon, staff participated in a spiritual walk at Point Nepean National Park.

The goal was simply to experience the ordinary holiness of prayerful peace. By walking slowly in silence with others, we inadvertently encourage one another to be fully aware of our breathing, our walking, our prayer, our peaceableness.

Mindfulness walking is a good exercise in the day-to-day practice. It forces us to slow down -- literally -- and to notice the trees, the bushes, the flowers, the sky and the birds, as well as to notice the resistance within us and how far short of "everyday peace" we fall.

Eucharist

An Operoo went out yesterday to our Year 4 students who would like to make their Sacrament of First Eucharist.

If there are any other students who would like to be involved, please let me know.
