Assistant Principal Report

Dear parents and carers,

Recently Melton West Primary has had the opportunity to pick up some dance moves through an organisation known as Dance Stomp Academy. Aaron Cliffe was able to book in weekly dance sessions for every class for the first five weeks of this term. Not only do students get to learn some new dance moves but they are also able to release plenty of energy and learn how to dance to a beat. Each 30-minute session is run by the Dance Stomp academy, with more details at https://stompdc.com/

Staff are also learning how to incorporate active learning in their classrooms. They have a Professional Development on tonight that will support teachers in adding some brain games or lesson ideas that include plenty of movement in the classroom. Thanks again to Aaron Cliffe for organising.

With the guidance and support of Jess Pfister, every class in the school have recently begun teaching AUSLAN. The students have already found these lessons engaging and it has been terrific walking into classrooms watching students sign. With some practice we are hoping that we will be able to incorporate sign language into our national anthem during assembly.
