Principal's Report

I'm sure we say this all the time but goodness its been such a busy term! Thank you to our great students for working so hard and settling in well to the year. Everyone is looking forward to the term break to reset and relax for a big term 2 coming up. Don't forget that Easter is at the end of the holidays and week 1 begins on Tuesday 22nd of April. ANZAC day is Friday 25th of April and LPS will be playing as always, an important role in the local ANZAC day service. The Lancefield service is held at the cenotaph and will begin at 10.30am.
Over the break grounds maintenance works will be taking place including the replacement of some old shade sails and rejuvenation of some play areas. Look out for these improvements when we are back in term 2.
School Council
This week we welcomed our new School Council members. Thank you to Daniel Young (School Council President), Aaron Randall (School Council Vice President), Mia Brain (Treasurer), Jacqueline Attard, Jess McCabe, Bec Borg, Jaclyn Milward and Sharon Gledhill for forming our 2025 team! I would like to thank Lancefield Neighbourhood House for their recent donation of $2000.00 to LPS which will be used to install helpful playground signage to support students safe and cooperative play.
Library News
We are putting a call out to anyone who would like to help us out by covering some of our new library books at home and then return them to school.
We estimate to cover 5 books would take approximately 30 minutes.
If you are interested please contact the office and Vanessa will spend ten minutes with you to set you up!
We really would appreciate some help with this task.
KHS and Kinder Visits
This Thursday was a very busy day with visits to Kyneton High School and the Lancefield Kinder. Kirsty, Jaclyn and myself paid a visit to KHS and enjoyed a tour and meeting with different KHS staff. The highlight was of course catching up with lots of our LPS past students. We couldn't be prouder of these students who are so happy and settled into secondary school and enjoying all the programs KHS has on offer. Please note that each LPS newsletter will now have a Transition page where we will aim to provide you with lots of updates from KHS and also kinder to prep information.
Our year 5s had their first visit to the Lancefield kinder today for half an hour of playing and getting to know our littlest neighbours. We are so proud of our students and the caring, respectful and calm way they all interacted with the kinder students.
Easter Raffle and Hot Cross Buns
A high thank you to all who have sent along donations for our Easter Raffle, it's not too late to contribute. The more goodies we have the more hampers we can give away! Thank you also to Lancefield Bakery for running the Hot Cross Bun drive and donating a percentage of money raised back to LPS!
Interschool Show Jumping
This month Emma has competed at two Interschool Show Jumping events at Borneo Park and Elmore, proudly representing Lancefield PS. Emma and her horse (Wyann touch of class) have now qualified for the Interschool State Championships in April this year at Borneo Park. Emma told me it's all about having a good pony but I would argue you need to have great skills as a rider so well done to you Emma, I am certain many hours of riding have been put into participating in these events!
I am reading … well I hope to read over the holidays a range of books but on the top of my list are "The Obstacle is the Way" by Ryan Holiday and "537 Days of Winter" by David Knoff
