LUNCHTIME CUTLERY

As per Department of Education policy, we are not allowed to provide students with single use plastic cutlery, and non-plastic cutlery items borrowed from the staff room tend to go missing.

ONLINE LUNCH ORDERING

We have a number of children that are missing out on their lunch orders due to user error. Please make sure you select the correct date and move through each step to avoid your child missing out on their lunch order. You can check your receipt to confirm that you've completed the order correctly.

Lunch orders are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The online ordering process is up and running.

Please log in to Qkr! and follow the steps.

Lunch orders are all on line. Orders must be placed by 8:30 a.m.

SMILE SQUAD - DENTAL VAN

The Smile Squad free school dental program is coming to our school

Dear Valkstone Primary School families,

The Smile Squad team from Better Health Network(BHN) are coming to our school soon.

Smile Squad is the Victorian Government free school dental program.

This means ALL students can get a free dental check-up, preventive services, and treatment at school.

How to access free dental care

We need your consent before we can provide services. Consent is usually provided by a parent or guardian.

Please complete and submit the consent form by Wednesday 30th April 2025.

Paper copies of the consent form are available. Please contact the school office if you would like to request one.

The electronic consent form can be translated into more than 100 languages, and the paper form is currently available in 13 languages.

Smile Squad oral health packs

All children deserve a healthy smile, and the Smile Squad free school dental program is working hard to help make sure this happens.

Your child(ren) will soon receive a free oral health pack to bring home.

The pack contains a toothbrush, full sized toothpaste, an oral health brochure in a water bottle. Please take the time to read the brochure.

It’s full of helpful hints and tips to help your whole family eat well, drink well and clean well – for life.

Standard strength toothpaste

Smile Squad provides standard strength fluoride toothpaste that is generally used by ages six and over, unless recommended by a dental or trained health professional.

If your child is under six, please talk to a dental or trained health professional to find out if your child might benefit from using this toothpaste.

You can also choose to put the toothpaste away until they turn six or give it to someone else in your family to use.

Do I need to attend my child’s appointment?

No, you do not need to attend your child’s appointment. You can attend if you would like to, and you can take your child to the community dental clinic if you prefer.

CAMPS, SPORTS & EXCURSION FUND

(CSEF)

If you are new to Valkstone Primary School (or an existing family with a new sibling starting at Valkstone ) and you are the holder of a Health Care Card, you may be eligible for CSEF.

This is an annual payment, payable to the school to be used towards camps, sports or excursion costs for eligible students.

Card holders with NEW prep students are also eligible for some school uniform. Please bring your Health care card to the office and complete an eligibility form.

If you need a new form please contact the office and we will send one home.

APRIL HOLIDAY PROGRAM

The April Holiday Program is now available and bookings for the program are now open.

Bookings close at 6pm on Friday 28th March.

The programs are available from the OSHC service, School Office or email Debbie at: debra.russell@education.vic.gov.au for a copy.

Booking requests must be made via the Xplor App.

We have 97 places available each day. If we reach capacity, your booking will be rejected and you will be placed on a waiting list.

Assembly time will change (just on this day in order for us to have a special assembly Prep-Grade 5) to 9:05 a.m.

Icy Pole Thursday $1

Icy Pole Thursdays are back for Term 1.

If you would like your child to have an icy pole, please send them in with a $1 to give to their teacher at the start of the day.

LOST PROPERTY

Lost property is located in the gym near the STEM room.

This is not for children to just take any jumper/hat they find in the lost property.

Children should only be taking their own items.

Please remember to put your name on your school jumpers, hats etc. to ensure that we are able to return them to you.
