Every day of attendance matters, and this is especially true for unauthorised absences. While missing a single day may seem minor, absences add up quickly and can significantly impact a student's learning. The effects of school absences extend beyond the current year, influencing academic achievement in future years as well.
At Mount Beauty Secondary College, we are committed to fostering an inclusive school culture where every student is valued, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive. Our approach ensures that appropriate adjustments are made to both the school environment and learning experiences, enabling all students to reach their full potential.
We prioritise building strong partnerships between staff, students, and families to create meaningful connections within our school community.
Diversity
Victoria’s education system celebrates diversity and is committed to supporting the participation and achievement of all students. Inclusive education recognises that some students have additional needs or intersecting identities that may require specific considerations.
At Mount Beauty Secondary College, we encourage families to meet with us if students require curriculum or environmental adjustments. Likewise, if staff identify concerns, they will proactively reach out to families to discuss strategies for support.
A Strength-Based Approach
Every student at Mount Beauty Secondary College has unique strengths and interests. Our staff focus on leveraging these strengths to support learning and address challenges. Lesson planning actively incorporates a strength-based approach to ensure that all students are engaged and empowered in their education.
Reflecting on the CONNECT Program
Last year, we introduced the CONNECT Program to support school attendance in the final weeks of the year and make the most of valuable learning time. I would like to thank the students and parents who embraced this initiative and contributed to its success. This year, we look forward to seeing even more students take advantage of the engaging and rigorous learning opportunities it provides.
