Harmony Day

This week, our school joined communities all around Australia to celebrate Harmony Day—a special day that celebrates inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone. Harmony Day is all about recognizing and appreciating the rich diversity of cultures that make up our school, our community, and our country.
Harmony Day began in Australia in 1999, and it’s celebrated every year on the same date as the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It’s a day where we remember that everyone should feel welcome and valued, no matter their background or where they come from.
This year, our students showed their support by wearing a splash of orange, which is the official colour of Harmony Day. Orange represents social communication, freedom of ideas, and respect for one another. It was wonderful to see our classrooms filled with orange shirts, hats, hair accessories, and even orange-themed artwork! Students participated in fun activities that encouraged kindness, understanding, and learning about different cultures.
At our school, we believe that everyone belongs, and Harmony Day is a great reminder of how important it is to celebrate our differences and treat each other with kindness every day.
