Catholic Education Week

This week, we join Catholic schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne in celebrating Catholic Education Week. It's a special time to reflect on our unique identity, the vital role we play in our community, and the strength of our commitment to providing enriching faith-filled education.

The theme for Catholic Education Week 2025, ‘Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you’ (Isa 60: 1), beautifully encapsulates our mission. It reminds us that each child is a beacon of light, and it is our privilege to nurture that light through faith and learning.

What does this theme mean for us at St Martin de Porres Primary School?

• Illuminating Faith: We strive to create an environment where the teachings of Jesus Christ are woven into the fabric of our daily lives. We aim to help our students understand and embrace their faith, allowing it to guide their actions and decisions.

• Shining Through Learning: We are committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences that empower our students to reach their full potential. We believe that education is a powerful tool for personal growth and for making a positive impact on the world.

• Arising as a Community: We celebrate the strength of our school community, where students, parents, and staff work together to create a supportive and nurturing environment. We recognise the importance of building strong relationships and fostering a sense of belonging.

Holy Week Prayer Services

As we approach the end of term, students will be delving into the significance of Holy Week, a fundamental part of our Church teachings. Each year level will be preparing and leading a liturgy, focusing on a specific event from Holy Week, for the entire school community. These meaningful liturgies will take place in the Church, and we warmly invite families to join us.
