Term 1 Week 5
In exciting news, we’ve gathered enough support to run the Pleasant Bazaar! We’re now in the final stages of confirming the date. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 12th at 6pm in the school hall. During this meeting, we’ll start discussing what each volunteer committee wants to plan.
It’s not too late to get involved – we’re still looking for more support and would love to have you join us. We hope to see you there!
On Wednesday, 26th February, a team of excited and enthusiastic swimmers traveled to Aqua Arena to compete in the District Swimming Carnival. The students took part in individual races, competing against swimmers from other schools in the area. Each swimmer demonstrated their personall best and represented our school with great pride. Thank you to the stduents for encouraging other students from other schools and showing wonderful sportsmanship. Well done to Arav, Stella, Christian and Clara who proceed to the next level, Division. Congratulations to all the swimmers for their outstanding effort!
A big thank you to all the parents who stayed after Assemblies over the past few weeks for our Meet and Greets! The icy poles were definitely a crowd-pleaser in this heat. It was also fantastic to have the opportunity to connect with parents and start the year on a positive note. A special thanks to the staff from the different Learning Centres for coming out to say hello, and to Leonie from the P&F for being available at each session. It was wonderful to see staff and parents mingling and enjoying the chance to chat with each other.
I meet with all the stakeholders involved in the new building on a regular basis. These include:
We meet every two weeks to review the progress made, identify any delays, and address any challenges that may have arisen. This is an opportunity to discuss not only the developments and advancements but also any obstacles, including those from the school’s perspective, ensuring that we can work together to find solutions and keep things moving forward smoothly.
Work has been completed on several key improvements, including the installation of pathways and ramp access to enhance accessibility across the site. Additionally, decking has been added near the back portables, providing a functional and aesthetically pleasing outdoor space.
The basketball courts have also been prepared, with the area filled and compacted using readiness material to create a solid foundation in preparation for the upcoming asphalt overlay.
Towards the end of the project, I will communicate plans for classes who will be moving into the back portables.
The current school council met for the last time this month before commencing with a new council in 2025! We thank our finishing members for their time and commitment to our school community. School Council is a great opportunity to see the ‘behind the scenes’ workings of the school and contribute your ideas. Please contact the office if you are interested in taking part! Nominations are open now.
SSGs will be held from next week. An SSG is a partnership between schools, parents/carers, the student and relevant agencies and/or support workers. The group works together to plan and support the educational, health, social, cultural and emotional wellbeing of students with diverse learning needs. This includes students supported by the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) or Disability Inclusion. An SSG is responsible for developing and implementing an Individual Education Plan (IEP) which outlines clear educational goals for the student and encourages student voice to facilitate a student’s engagement in their own learning.
This Sunday the 2nd of March Clean Up Australia Day is celebrating 25 years of improving and conserving our environment. As part of the celebrations, we held our own Clean Up MPRPS Day today. Using our free Clean Up kit grades pulled on their gloves and chose an area in the school they wished to improve.
Grade 1- 6 Three-Way Conferences will be held from the 17th to the 21st of March. Bookings will open on Compass on Monday 3rd March. These conferences provide an excellent opportunity for students, parents, and teachers to come together to discuss the student’s progress, strengths, and areas for growth. During these meetings, students will have the chance to reflect on their learning, share their achievements, and set goals for the future. Parents will also be able to gain valuable insights into their child’s development, while teachers provide support and guidance for continued success. We encourage all families to participate in these important conferences to ensure that we are all aligned in supporting the student’s educational experience.
Foundation Information night will be held Thursday 20th at 6pm in the hall.
Online music lessons will be held on Friday, 7th March, as a make-up session for the lessons missed on Monday, 10th March, due to the public holiday.
We would like to extend our best wishes to Tilly (ES) and Rahima (Business Manager) as they embark on new adventures and challenges, moving on from MPRPS. Their time here has been truly valued.
We would also like to wish Kate all the best as she begins her family leave. We wish Kate and Matt the best in their journey as new parents. We look forward to welcoming her back.
Just a reminder that Twilight Sports will be held on 6th March, with a BBQ and second-hand uniform shop available. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
Have a fabulous weekend.
