SRC: BEANIE DAY

Our first ever Student Representative Council (SRC) sponsored event, Beanie Day, was a resounding success! The school grounds were transformed into a sea of colourful, cozy headwear as students and staff alike showed up to support our very first student-led event.

The highlight of the day was undeniably our recess "dance party." Led by our enthusiastic staff DJ and lead dancer, Mr Wanders! An incredible beanie-clad crowd packed the space to show off their best dance moves. Even when we hit a few unexpected technical difficulties with the sound setup, the energy never dipped and the crowd kept the vibe alive until the music kicked back in.

Thank you to everyone who wore a beanie, joined the dance floor, and helped make our first SRC event such a memorable one!

YEAR 1 MELBOURNE ZOO EXCURSION

On Monday, 38 excited Year 1 students boarded the bus headed for the Melbourne Zoo! We had a wonderful day, walking around in the sunshine and seeing some amazing animals that God has created. 

We have been learning about habitats and how these provide all the things that animals need to survive. We’ve learnt that habitats don’t just give animals food and water, they also give animals places to hide and rest. At the Zoo, sometimes we had to look carefully before we spotted an animal, and some animals we just could not see anywhere!

But other animals put on a show. Our highlights included watching the siamangs “doing the monkey bars”, seeing the lions at feeding time, getting close to the lemurs, having butterflies land on us and laughing at the meerkats’ antics.We also got to see tigers, gorillas, giraffes, snakes, lizards, otters and many more! 

In our session with a zookeeper, we saw tortoises and iguanas in their warm enclosure, we learnt about how Zoos protect animals and we became wild explorers, investigating the unique features and needs of various animal species.
