Our 2025 DCS Association AGM was held on June 17th and was well attended. During the evening, we heard an exciting report from Principal Chad Smit, reviewed the school’s financial position, farewelled Pip Martin after nine years of dedicated service to our school and elected Board Members.
We also took a digital tour of the new secondary block (currently under construction), shared dessert together, and enjoyed a hot drink. Thank you to those who participated in this year’s AGM and the families supporting DCS through Association membership.
During the evening, Gary Walker was re-elected to the Board for a one-year term alongside Miriam Guntrip and Andrew Newton, who were both elected for their first three-year term. We thank these Board Members for their willingness to support DCS in this way.
At the following Board meeting, members were nominated and voted into the following Board positions:
Board Chair Hanna Udy
Vice Chair Miriam Guntrip
Treasurer Mike Vos
Member Gary Walker
Member Ettienne de Wilzem
Member Andrew Chappell
Member Leah Jopson
Member Andrew Newton
If you would like more information about joining the DCS Association, please do not hesitate to contact the school office or connect with a Board member.
At Devonport Christian School, we’re building more than just classrooms; we’re creating a Christ-centred legacy for generations.
As our school community grows to include Year 10 in Secondary, so does the need for modern spaces that support learning, creativity, and well-being. Earlier this year, we began construction on our most significant building to date, our new Year 9/10 Centre, a $6.5 million project that will include a Secondary Science Laboratory and Theory Classroom, a Secondary Food Technology Centre (Commercial Kitchen) and a Visual Arts Studio, a Design Technology Hub, five General Learning Classrooms, and an open community gathering space connected to our Jiloa Centre by a walkway bridge.
Approximately 90% of this cost will be funded by the school building fund and bank loans, and 10% by government grants. This is where we turn to you, our community, to prayerfully consider playing a part.
We would like to invite you to make a donation. No matter the amount, every gift to the Devonport Christian School Building Fund makes a difference.
Every donation is tax-deductible, and anything contributed before 30 June 2025 can be included in your 2025 tax return.

DCS Enrolments 2026-2030: What a joy it is to see the DCS community flourishing!
God continues to bless our school with strong interest from families seeking a Christ-centred education and we’re humbled to be receiving enrolment enquiries all the way through to 2030!
If you are already part of our beautiful DCS family and have younger children due to start in 2026, 2027, 2028 or beyond (or siblings for other levels including secondary), we would love to hear from you. We have already begun processing 2026 and 2027 enrolments, and we want to make sure our current families are well-supported and prioritised during this exciting season of growth.
If you have not yet completed an Enrolment Enquiry form, please go to our school website https://www.dcs.tas.edu.au/enrolments/ and click on the enrolment enquiry button to complete an enquiry form.
If you are unsure whether you have submitted an enquiry, please don’t hesitate to reach out at enrolments@dcs.tas.edu.au and we will check for you. We are here to help and we value journeying alongside you as parents in faith and learning.
As we begin welcoming new enrolments into our growing DCS family, if you know of any family, friends, or community members who may be looking for a Christ-centred, nurturing school community like DCS, we warmly invite you to connect with our Enrolments Team via the above email and communicate with us about the family you are connected with, or reach out directly to our Principal, Chad Smit. We would be delighted to walk alongside them when opportunities open for new enrolments.
