Founders Day Student Reflections

At the Founders Day Assembly, Mr Evans asked me some questions on stage. I started with saying that I joined DCS when I was in Kinder in 2018. Then I explained that my earliest memory at DCS is going to the pre-kinder classes and people reading stories to us all the time. After that, I said that I’m looking forward to DCS in the future because I will be staying at DCS for High School. The last thing I said is if I had to describe DCS in one word, that word would be compassionate.

– Harper S, Year 6

Founders Day is a special day to celebrate those who found DCS. It has changed lots in many different ways and more students have come. Pathway to Life was part of founding DCS, lots of others too and they helped to build DCS.

– Anna dW, Year 5

Founders Day is about our community and how our buildings have grown. Lots has changed since it was first built. The new 5/6 buildings have been built and the new under cover basketball court, where we sat today for the assembly.

– Hudson P, Year 5

The people that are invited to Founders Day are the people that have been here from the beginning and DCS staff, teachers and parents that were here from when they were in school.

– Eva L, Year 5

Founders Day is a special occasion in the year where we take time to look back on the origin of DCS, the people that were here from day one, and how DCS has flourished as a wonderful school. Over the years, Founders Day has usually been celebrated in the JILOA Centre, however I love that this year the staff and visitors walked around the school viewing the amazing school that has been developed.

– Maybelle R, Year 6

I was interviewed at Founders Day. I came to DCS in Grade 1, 2021 and one of my best memories was the 3/4 camp at Port Arthur. I am looking forward to the Year 6 Canberra trip in the future. If I could describe Devonport Christian School in one word it would be "welcoming".

– Elsie D, Year 5
