Student Learning

Year 4 Class F9 and Reception Class N11 came together for Harmony Week to share a special day full of creativity, fun, and, most importantly, friendship. Our buddy catch-up was a wonderful way to celebrate the values of unity, respect, and inclusiveness that Harmony Week stands for.

We kicked off the session with a burst of artistic inspiration. The children learned about the beauty and significance of Indigenous Australian art and how it tells stories through patterns, colours, and symbols. Using the vibrant colours of yellow, orange, red, and black, each child created their unique dot paintings on pieces of fabric. These artworks were proudly displayed in the New Building for everyone to admire.

Next, the children took their artistic talents outside, using colourful chalk to write messages of unity and friendship on the concrete. Together, the students from both classes drew beautiful symbols and words that captured the essence of this special week, filling the space with messages of peace and togetherness.

Of course, no buddy catch-up would be complete without some time for play! After all the creativity, the children enjoyed playing on the school’s new playground, sharing laughter, and making memories with their buddies. Whether climbing, sliding, or simply chatting, the fun never stopped.

While every buddy catch-up is special, this one felt particularly meaningful. It was not just about having fun and making art; it was about coming together as a school community to celebrate the diversity that makes us all unique. The children of F9 and N11 showed how, through creativity and cooperation, we can build a more harmonious world. We look forward to many more opportunities to celebrate, learn, and grow together!
