12 and Under Netball NSW State Team Trials

After attending netball trials in Wagga Wagga, Lila Mislicki (Year 6) and Sophie Frazer (Year 5) were selected to represent the Riverina Anglican Schools 12 and Under Team to compete at the Netball NSW State Team Trials in Sydney on Thursday 29 June.

This was a fantastic experience for the girls. Their team won 6 of 9 games. Lila spent most of her time in defence and was able to get her hands on a lot of balls. Sophie was introduced to a more physical game in the goal ring but adjusted very well and thrived on the challenge.

From the 100 who attended the competition, ten were selected for the NSW Team. Both girls learned a great deal from the opportunity. Sophie will be better prepared, as she will be able to attend next year.

The girls were fortunate to meet Helen Housby on the day. She plays GA for the NSW Swifts and is an English international player.

Congratulations, girls, on representing our school so admirably.

NSW CIS Basketball Tryouts

Two of Moama Anglican Grammar’s talented athletes, George Allan (Year 9) and Olivia Frazer (Year 9), recently had the honour of representing the school at the NSW CIS Basketball tryouts held in Sydney. This exciting opportunity allowed them to compete against some of the best young basketball players from across the state, gaining valuable experience and insight into the high-performance standards required at the next level.

Both students returned with a renewed focus and a clearer understanding of their goals in the sport. They embraced the challenges of the tryouts and walked away with lessons that will help shape their ongoing development.

Coach Luke Carnegie praised their efforts, saying, “George and Olivia’s determination and persistence at training have really stood out. Now it’s time to find that next level or gear to kick things along. They’ve proven they have the mindset — now it’s about building on that.”

Their participation in the tryouts is a proud moment for the school community and a promising step forward in their sporting journeys. We look forward to seeing where their hard work and commitment will take them next.

Under 15 Basketball Tournament

Last week’s Under 15 Basketball Tournament was an incredible day of competition, growth and team spirit for our Moama Anglican Grammar teams. Facing off against some highly skilled Melbourne school sides, each of our teams demonstrated impressive development and resilience with every game they played.

A special thank you goes to School Captain Michael Williams and Emily Flanigan, who stepped into coaching roles for the Boys Red and Boys Blue teams. Their leadership, alongside the players’ commitment, helped foster a positive and united team environment. All teams showed grit, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day, standing tall in every match.

A standout moment came from our Girls Blue team, who delivered an inspiring performance full of determination and heart. After starting the day with a full squad of nine, the team was impacted by illness and injuries. By the time they reached the Grand Final, they were down to just six players and five by halftime. Despite the challenges, the girls gave it their all, securing a well-deserved runners-up finish. It was a truly valiant effort that made the entire school community proud.

MAG Equestrian Team Attends Melbourne International 3DE Day

Over the King’s Birthday long weekend, the MAG Equestrian Team had the exciting opportunity to attend the 2025 Melbourne International Three Day Event at the Werribee Park precinct. On Sunday 8 June, students experienced the thrilling cross-country phase, featuring elite riders from across Australia competing in the CCCN1* Off the Track class, as well as the CCI2*, CCI3* and CCI4* levels.

A special highlight was cheering on our very own Miss Stacey Briggs, who competed in the CCI3* class aboard her horse, Marengo Valentino. Students were also thrilled to see Olympic medallists Chris Burton and Shane Rose in action, an inspiring experience for all!

Strong Strides at CIS Cross Country Championships

MAG students were treated to sunshine and rolling green hills at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre yesterday for the Combined Independent Schools State Championships. Running for Riverina Associated Schools, MAG's 13 representatives all competed strongly in perfect conditions.

Up against specialist distance runners from right across the state, the challenge was always going to be a big one. Our best performer, and best result from across the RAS region, was Laura Stone (Year 8) (U13G - 3km), who finished 11th and just 4 seconds outside qualifying for the NSW State Cross Country Championships. A fantastic run by Laura.
