We Are Monsters Performance
If the saying 'practice makes perfect is true, then you will see a perfect performance next Thursday night at the theatre! The Foundation kids have taken to the musical like ducks to water and we are all really looking forward to the performance next Thursday night. (PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PURCHASED YOUR TICKETS!)
Wellbeing
Due to the busy nature of school, the great learning done in classrooms and whole school activities like the school performance, children can get a bit dysregulated throughout the day (Teachers too!). Over the past week we have been transitioning back into our classroom with the help of some mindful meditation, a chance for our young people to stop and take time out of the busyness of schools. We have been concentrating on relaxing our bodies and focusing on our breathing using deep belly breaths. The students have gotten a lot out of the experience.
This is funny....
Five year old brains have a habit of making us older people appreciate the wonder of children. Yesterday was another example of this. Our beautiful student, Audrey, had one of her baby teeth out and a conversation ensued at to the amount of money she may receive from the Tooth Fairy. You can see the estimations in the photo below, but the range of the guesses went from $0.50c to $900,000 dollars!!
Year 1
The year 1 students have been busily practising their item for the concert. They have made amazing progress and they are working so well with the Foundation students. We cant wait for you to see how hard we have all worked

Year 3/4
In Year 3/4 the students have been learning about Composite Shapes and Symmetry.
Students revised the basic shapes and identified the number of sides and vertices of two dimensional (2D) shapes. They then explored a composite shape made up of 2 or more common shapes, identifying what the common shapes were.
During the Maths lesson on symmetry, students predicted how many lines of symmetry a shape had, and then cut the shape out and folded it, so they could check their predictions.
Year 4/5
Year 4/5 Religion – Learning About the Mass
Over the past week in Religious Education, our Year 4 and 5 students have been exploring the different parts of the Mass. They investigated each section; the Introductory Rites, the Liturgy of the Word, the Liturgy of the Eucharist, and the Concluding Rites. This helped the students to develop a deeper understanding of the structure of the Mass and the symbols used throughout.
Working collaboratively in small groups, students designed informative, thoughtful, and creative posters to represent their learning. These wonderful displays are now proudly showcased in our learning space.
Well done, Year 4/5!
Your work reflects deep thinking, creativity, and teamwork. 👏
Year 5/6
We are really looking forward to the “We are Monsters” performance. We are excited yet nervous at the same time, because we are going to be on stage! In the past weeks we have practiced A LOT, so we are confident that we can perform this amazing show that’s coming up in a week. We only need to practice a little more. We are really really really excited that we can do this on stage in front of everyone.

We love practicing for our school play because it’s fun and exciting to work together with our friends. Every practice helps us get more confident, remembering our lines and dance moves! In our perspective it feels so cool to see everyone improve day by day and we can’t wait to perform in front of everyone.

We are all excited about the production happening in a week. In the past few weeks we have been practising quite a lot and have learnt all of our lines, we have excellent communication and cooperation, and we work as a big team. For part of our costumes, we have been creating clothes for the different types of scary monsters: we have vampires, monsters and werewolves, we don’t want to spoil it, so we won’t give you much detail, but we can proudly say that we are super excited for this fantastic production! Make sure you come prepared for this show because we are about to blow your socks off…

Our class has been practicing more and more as the day of the performance creeps up, we’re all so excited to bring the show to OLMC theatre. For the past few weeks we’ve been working tirelessly on our dances and lines for our We Are Monsters production. This week we’ve been working on our costumes, and touching up our moves and everything is shaping up to the utter most impeccability you’ve ever laid eyes on.

Maxie: I feel excited as I am nervous. The nervous thing is being on stage and where to go because I've never been on stage before, well I have been on the stage before but not on the real actual stage, I've only been on the seats. The good thing is I memorised all my lines and I know all of them. See you at the play!
Shamus: I’m excited about performing in the production “We Are Monsters” and a little nervous about being on stage with tons of people. After we practiced hard for a couple of weeks, we think the production will go well.
Cody: I'm really excited for the musical We Are Monsters. We have been practicing two times a week and we have been decorating our clothes so they look like the monsters we are, which are monsters, werewolves and vampires.
This term we have been focusing on our end of the term production. We have been enjoying practising and rehearsing the show and learning from our mistakes. We have been focusing on improving our timing and teamwork to make the performance as polished as possible. Each rehearsal has helped us identify areas where we can do better, and we’ve been supporting each other during rehearsals and at the end of each practice we give feedback to improve our performing skills. Lauren and I (Aleisha) have been choreographing the main songs which are We Are Monsters and We Are Monsters Reprise. We all have had a fun time practising and dancing and can’t wait to perform it at the end of the term!
