Asian Studies

This term we have been learning about culture, and how we all have one. We looked for clues of our ancestry in our family names and created puzzle pieces to depict cultural heritage. Then we read drew inspiration from the poem "Where I am from" by George Ella Lyon, and created our own poems about the cultures of our homes.

 I am from the hot summer wind and the smell of souvlaki on the burning barbecue. 

I am from the scent of Feta and Tzakiki

I am from tasty juicy beef stroganoff and hot soup on the warm stove

I am from my parents saying”Be Productive!” 

I am from games like cludo and snakes and ladders 

I am from songs like greek and russian and a little bit of k-pop 

I am from my Greek and Russian ancestors 

I am from watching my little cousin grow up an holding my baby cousin in my arms for the very first time.
