Celebration of learning

Little Learners

This fortnight we have been practicing 'oo' as in 'boo the goose' and 'le' as in 'a little poodle'. Next week we will be introducing the phoneme 'ow' as in 'brown cow' and 'ou' as in 'ouch'. We have been so impressed this term as students have learnt and revised a wide range of graphemes.

1B celebrated learning 'oo' by creating colourful balloon dogs.

Writing

Students have been practicing writing engaging sentences by including when, who, did what, where and why. When generating ideas and including becausein their writing, students have shown off their creativity.

A highlight this term has been exploring Ancient Egypt through our writing unit.  Grade one worked together create an Ancient Egypt learning wall to showcase their knowledge. Pop by and take a look to learn about Pharos, the Nile river, pyramids and more!

Numeracy

It has been a jam packed term in maths! Students have settled into maths routines, with daily review giving them an opportunity to keep prior leaning fresh. They have worked hard to deepen place value knowledge, along with lots of hands on activities exploring length, mass and capacity. Its been a joy to watch students explore the maths can be found all around them.
