Caring Learning Growing: Every Child Every Day
Dear Families,
This newsletter comes to you from a very sunny Cairns, where I am privileged to be attending the National Catholic Educators Conference. While my preferred place to be is school, it is important to ensure we stay aware of both national and international educational research and initiatives. These conferences and professional learning opportunities enable us to grow and learn as a school, and most importantly, offer our children high-quality learning. Our staff are continually learning and reflecting on their practice through a variety of professional learning.
As always, Lisa and all our staff keep things running smoothly while I am away, and I am very thankful for this.
It was incredible to see all the Book Week costumes last Monday. Everyone looked amazing, and it was so much fun to guess which book the children had based their costumes on.
From all reports, the Grade 3 children headed off excitedly to their overnight camp at Roses Gap. This is sucha great time of learning for the children as many of them head off for their first night away. As always, a big thanks to the staff for organising such a valuable experience for the children. I can't wait to hear about their adventures.
Last Wednesday, we farewelled Beth as she heads off to await the arrival of baby number 2. We look forward to welcoming another SMJ baby soon.
Today we were lucky enough to have Maggie Caris come to visit. Maggie graduated from SMJ in 2014, the same year she was crowned our Athlete of the Year. Maggie has gone on to become an elite athlete, playing AFLW and is now a National Championship Netballer following her recent win with the Melbourne Vixens. We thank Maggie for coming to visit.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and looking forward to being back at school on Monday to see everyone.
