Tracey Gunson Netball
Grand Finals
On June 10th, our two netball teams showcased incredible skill and determination at the Tracey Gunson Grand Finals, both emerging victorious against Mater Dei.
Our 7/8 girls team had us on the edge of our seats! In a nail-biting match, they fought back from behind to defeat Mater Dei with a final score of 30 to 27. Their resilience and teamwork were truly inspiring to witness. A massive congratulations to Asha Creek, who was rightfully awarded Best on Court for her dominant performance in the shooting circle.
The Opens team also delivered a stellar performance in their Grand Final. They started strong, establishing a significant lead that they carried into the final quarter. Despite a strong push from Mater Dei, our girls held their ground, ultimately winning 33 to 29. Their ability to maintain composure and execute under pressure was commendable. Lulu Rynehart was named Best on Court for her outstanding play in the centre court.
A huge congratulations to both teams, their coaches, and all who supported them throughout the season.

John Vrolyks Basketball
Grand Final
Our girls' senior basketball team has had an incredible run over the past two weeks, culminating in a spectacular victory at the John Vrolyks Shield!
The girls started strong, comfortably winning their round games against Kooringal High and Mater Dei Catholic College. Their momentum carried them into the Semi Finals, where they faced Kooringal High once again. Our team delivered an outstanding performance, absolutely dominating the court with a 72 to 16 win!
The Grand Final saw them take on Wagga High in what proved to be their toughest match of the tournament. It was a close contest for most of the game, with both teams battling hard. However, our Kildare girls dug deep and showed incredible resilience, ultimately coming out on top with a 39 to 22 victory to claim the championship title!
A huge congratulations goes to Sadie Pankhurst, who was named Best on Court for her dominant performance in the Grand Final. Sadie not only led the team with her impressive play but also was the top scorer with 26 points!
We are incredibly proud of the entire team for their dedication, teamwork, and outstanding success in the John Vrolyks Shield. Well done, girls! A big thank you to Mr Colenso for his commitment and dedication to the team and also to all the supporters who came to cheer the girls on. It was a great atmosphere.

Kildare Teams Shine at All Schools Touch Competition!
Jubilee Park was buzzing with excitement and the perfect amount of sunshine on Thursday, May 29th, as four Kildare teams showcased their talent at the annual All Schools Touch Competition. Our boys 7/8 team, girls 7/8 team, boys 9/10 team, and girls 9/10 team all participated, enjoying a fantastic day for touch football with ideal weather conditions.
The day was a true display of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship from all our students.
The 9/10 girls navigated their pool games against strong teams from Coolamon, Kooringal, and Junee. They dominated the field, losing only one of these intense matchups, which propelled them into the quarter-finals.
Their winning streak continued as they faced and defeated Temora in a thrilling quarter-final match. The momentum carried them into the semi-finals, where they secured another impressive victory against Murrumbidgee Regional High School, earning them a spot in the Grand Final!
In the Grand Final, our 9/10 girls came up against a formidable Kooringal High team. While they fell short of the top prize, they played with incredible skill, determination, and displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the entire competition.
The 9/10 boys definitely took advantage of the weather and were always in the driver’s seat for all seven games. They played some classy touch, often using set plays and the width of the field to score consistently.
The boy’s defence was well organised, with excellent communication, which made it very hard for other teams to score. It really was pretty to watch. After playing all 6 round games the boys were undefeated. They had to play a team they previously defeated and the boys did it again winning 6-2 in the grand final.
It was a privilege and pleasure to take these boys with many of them displaying leadership skills that would make the school community proud.
The 7/8 girls' team showcased exceptional talent and tenacity throughout the day. They opened their campaign with a hard-fought draw against TRAC in their initial pool game, before demonstrating their dominance by winning all subsequent matches. This impressive display of skill and unwavering determination propelled them into the Grand Final, where they once again faced their formidable rivals, TRAC.
In a thrilling culmination of their efforts, the girls emerged victorious with a decisive 6-2 win, a testament to their strategic play and teamwork. This resounding triumph secures their well-deserved spot in the State Final, set to take place in Sydney this September.
The Year 7/8 Boys Team impressed with an outstanding performance throughout the day, demonstrating remarkable skill, teamwork, and determination. They dominated the round games, with the majority of players contributing to the scoreboard by scoring one or more tries—an incredible achievement that highlighted their depth and cohesion as a team.
As they advanced into the quarter and semi-finals, the intensity of the competition increased, but the boys rose to the occasion with grit and composure. Their hard work paid off as they earned a well-deserved place in the Grand Final. In a thrilling contest that went try for try, they gave their all against a strong and formidable opponent. While the final result didn’t go their way, the team should be immensely proud of their efforts, sportsmanship, and unwavering spirit.
Their performance was a testament to their dedication and the strength of our school community. Well done, boys!
Congratulations to all our Kildare teams for their participation and fantastic efforts at the All Schools Touch Competition. Your dedication and talent make our school proud! We wish the 9/10 Boys and 7/8 Girls Team all the best as they progress to the next level.

Rugby 7s
Kildare was represented by three teams at the South West Rugby Boy's 7s held at Conolly Rugby Complex, Wagga last Tuesday week (June 24).
The Year 7/8s played 4 matches and won 1, drew 1 and lost 2 and their two losses were against the two schools who played each other in the Final.
The boys won their last match against Sacred Heart, Cootamundra 43-0 which was a reflection on their improvement during the day.
The Year 9/10 boys made it through to the final against Mater Dei after winning their 2 pool matches and their semi final against Sacred Heart, Cootamundra. Unfortunately they went down in the final 17-19 with both teams scoring 3 tries each and goal kicking determining the result.
Our Year 11/12 boys started off with a loss but that was followed with 2 solid wins which gained them a spot in a semi final against Temora High.
The Boys tried very hard against their bigger and faster opponents but went down to the eventual 11/12 winners.
The boys behaviour both on and off the field was exemplary on the day and despite the cold conditions and mixed results everyone appeared to enjoy the day.
My thanks to Mr. Strauss Human (11/12s) and Mr. Scott Peisley (9/10s) on helping assist with their respective squads on the day.
