This fortnight...

In the Classroom

It’s been a creative couple of weeks in our Grade 5/6 classrooms, as we edge closer to the end of term.

Our focus in English this fortnight has been poetry, and it’s been such a joy to see students engaging with the beauty and power of words. We’ve been reading and analysing a range of poems, discussing the meaning and exploring language choices. The kids have also been writing their own free verse poems – full of emotion, creativity and imagination.

We’ve been sharpening our skills with multiplication and division in Mathematics, exploring different strategies and solving real-world problems. It’s been great to see students growing more confident and efficient with their number work. We’ve also ventured into location and mapping, learning how to read and plot grid coordinates. Some students have shown impressive map-reading skills – maybe we’ve got a few future cartographers among us!

As always, we’re so impressed by the effort and enthusiasm our students bring to the classroom. Keep up the great work, everyone!

Regards,

Grade 5/6 Team
