Welcome back to all of our students, families and the broader school community. I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New Year break. Students have returned to school in a really positive manner which has been great to be a part of. We experienced some pretty hot weather in the early weeks, but staff and students managed this in a really positive way.

NAPLAN

On the 11th of March through to the 24th of March, all year 7 and year 9 students will engage in NAPLAN testing. The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. It is the only national assessment all Australian students have the opportunity to undertake. As students' progress through their school years, it is important to check how well they are learning the essential skills of reading, writing and numeracy.

NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents/carers to see how their child is progressing against national proficiency standards. We ask that you chat to your students about the importance of trying their best during NAPLAN sessions and encourage them to approach this period of the term with positivity. As a school we will do as much as possible to spread testing sessions out and where possible try to ensure students still have the ability to engage in most if not all of their elective subjects.

Welcome BBQ

On Wednesday of week 3, we had our meet and greet year 7 BBQ, this event was fantastic with lots of families and students in attendance. The quality of music provided by our college band was excellent and we were lucky enough to be spoilt with the weather. I would like to thank everyone who attended and supported this event as it goes a long way to forming strong partnerships between home and school, which we know is critical for the best possible outcomes for all students.

After School Homework Club

We encourage any students seeking assistance with classwork/homework to attend after school homework club on Wednesday afternoons between 3-4pm.

I am looking forward to the year ahead and thank you for your continued support as we navigate the 2025 school year.
