⭐️  WELCOME BACK!

It has been wonderful to welcome all our Grade One and Two students back to school, ready to begin a busy and exciting year of learning! We have had a fantastic start the year, sharing the excitement from our summer holidays, getting to know all the new friends in our classes and setting up ready to begin learning.  

⭐️  WONGA WEEKLY

The Wonga Weekly is such an important tool we use to communicate with families upcoming dates and the learning that is occurring in your child's grade level. We would encourage you to read this weekly newsletter so that you can talk to your child about their learning, at home.

⭐️  WEEK THREE LEARNING

During this week we will continue to support our students in developing routines and expectations of their new grade level, while beginning to introduce curriculum content.

✨Phonics: Our students will begin UFLI this week,  the phonics program used at Wonga Park Primary School. During this week, we will be reintroducing the expectations and routines during these sessions while revising sounds they have learnt during their prep or grade one year. 

✨Literacy: Students will be using the story 'Bev and Kev' as our mentor text. They will be looking at the features of a narrative text, writing sentences about these features and  retelling the story in a variety of ways.

✨Things you can do at home:

Practice retelling stories you have shared at home.

Share narrative texts and talk to your child about the characters - Who are they? What are they doing? How do they feel?

⭐️ REMINDERS

✨Please book in your 'Getting To Know You Conversations' if you have not yet done so.

✨Thanks to the many families that have already brought in tissues and wipes. If you have not been able to already, we would greatly appreciate your contribution. 

✨Please ensure your child has their Sun Smart hat at school.

✨Children have recently completed their iPad quiz in class. You should have received a parent agreement document, to be completed with your child. You should have also received a prompt on Sentral. We need all three of these tasks completed before your child can use their iPad for learning at school.
