WELCOME
Welcome to another year of sporting opportunities for 2025. Miss Devlin and Mrs Col will take on their same roles as Sport Teachers and Sport Coordinators of the school for 2025. Miss Devlin will be teaching the PE syllabus with all classes across 5 days and Mrs Col will be present on Mondays. At St Patricks we will provide opportunities that range from SCS Representative Pathways, SCS Interschool Sport, Catholic Schools NSW endorsed gala and development days, SCS sport holiday activities and finally invitational gala days from our local national sporting organisations.
Representative Trials
Our students have already participated in multiple sporting trials for the Sydney Catholic Schools sporting calendar year. Recently we had 19 students attend the Conference 3 Swimming Trial at Sutherland Leisure Centre. The day started off strong until the thunderstorms forced the event to come to an end. Students who were unable to complete all their races will be sent details on the progression plan. Thank you for being patient with us but the weather is indeed one of those events that we simply cannot control. All students will receive a certificate at the upcoming school assembly. Congratulations to Julia, Peyton, Finn, Evie, Sam, Ella, Ethan, Hugo, Dennis, Scarlett, Pyper, Beatriz, James, Hudson, Lucy, Noah, Davis, Jeremy and Rebecca.
Yesterday, e also had Jack C compete at the Rugby League Trials, he finds out tomorrow if he was successful in making it to the next level. We are so proud of your efforts!
Next week our selected Football (soccer) students will take to the field at Kareela. Good luck to Lenny, Beau, Thomas, Owen, Noah, Leila, Ella, Rebecca and Lana. After our football trials, Lila and Scarlet will give it their best at the Conference Netball trials while Xavier competes at the Sydney Hockey trial.
Thank you to those students who have already represented us so proudly and good luck to any of our students who are trialing in the coming weeks.
OPTIONAL CROSS COUNTRY
Please find attached the details for our annual School Cross Country Trial held on Monday 10th March 2025 (week 6) at Waratah Upper and Lower Playing fields, Sutherland. This is an optional event for eligible students (eligibility detailed in the attached document). To enter this event, please register your child via this Nomination Form which will close on Friday 28th February. Please ensure you have read the attached document before filling out the nomination form. After the closing date, a COMPASS event will be shared with you where all future correspondence will take place for this event. If you have any questions regarding this event please email the school.
NRL TACKLE ONLY GALA DAY
Our school has invited our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students to participate in the Rugby League Great Whites Legends Gala Day hosted by NRL on Thursday 6th March at Anzac Oval, Engadine. As the school calendar is very busy our school is only entering the tackle division of this gala day as there are other opportunities throughout the year to play in a tag gala day. Please click on the below document which has all the information regarding this particular event.
Parents are required to arrange transport for their child to and from the ground. The draw has not been distributed but student arrival/dismissal would be approximately 9:00am - 2:30pm. More information about the event will be forwarded to you when it becomes available.
Only students who have prior experience in competition involving trained tackle techniques outside of school are encouraged to join this gala day.
If your child is interested in attending this event, please fill in the following Registration Form. Registration forms will close on Friday 21st February. After registrations close, the official permission form will be communicated with you via a COMPASS event where all other correspondence for this day will be shared.
SCS Sporting Pathways - Representative
The Representative Pathway Sports will continue into Term 1 2025 with many sports already in the MacKillop Trial stage. This is because the representative sport calendar season with Sydney Catholic Schools runs from Term 4 2024 to Term 3 2025.
Year 5 and Year 6 students have the opportunity to represent St Patrick’s at trials to progress through the pathway system. The sports they will be able to trial for are varied and many are open to both boys and girls.
To be considered for selection to represent St Patrick’s students requires experience and to be playing the sport as a registered player at a high level of skill outside of school. This should be in the form of a regular, structured rep, Division 1 or equivalent A level competition. Parents had the opportunity to nominate their child via an electronic form last year. This form will be re-sent during Term 3 2025 to gather any new or updated information regarding your child's sport involvement outside of school. Nominations for this sports calendar season have closed as trials have commenced.
When a student attends a Conference Pathway Sporting event it is important that they take the documentation supplied by the school with them. Parents will also need to provide consent via COMPASS. Your child may not be allowed to compete without the form. Your child will also be given a representative St Patrick's Jersey/Shirt to wear in which they will need to wash and return after the trial.
If there is a change in your child's attendance to one of these events please email amanda.col@syd.catholic.edu.au so I can make the necessary arrangements to withdraw your child from this event. This is to ensure an accurate record on COMPASS and for the smooth running of the trial event.
