Duke of Ed Camp Semester 1 2024 Cathedral Ranges State Park

The 2024 Duke of Edinburgh Camp was an exhilarating experience for all participants, blending thrilling adventures with significant personal achievements. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Cathedral Ranges, the camp took place at the picturesque Cooks Mill, offering an ideal setting for young adventurers to challenge themselves and forge lasting memories. The Duke of Edinburgh Camp in my school is a beacon of resilience, leadership, and self-discovery and it paved the way for an unforgettable journey for our attendees. This year’s camp united a diverse group of young people, all driven to surpass their limits and achieve their aspirations. On the first day we completed a tough summit of Sugarloaf Peak. Sugarloaf Peak stands as a testament to the natural beauty and grandeur of Australia. This lesser-known marvel offers time for adventure and a steep rock scramble was overcome. On day 2 we traversed the expanses of the Cathedral Ranges, a breathtaking expanse of rugged peaks, verdant valleys, and awe-inspiring vistas. This natural wonder is more than just a destination; it’s an experience that beckons adventurers, nature enthusiasts, and those seeking an escape into the sublime beauty of Australia’s wilderness.  On Day 3 we finished a walk to the top of the beautiful Stevenson’s Falls. It’s also an enchanting experience that promises to mesmerise every visitor. We were captivated by the magic of Steavenson's Falls, the crown jewel of Victoria’s natural landscape and a fitting end to a challenging and rewarding Duke of Ed Camp. Thanks to Mr Smyth, Mr Gillespie and Lorraine for assisting on our journey by Tissa.

“I loved the hikes and seeing all the views, it was an experience of a lifetime. Would recommend to anyone who loves the outdoors and adventure.”

“I enjoyed the rock scrambling and the view at the peaks and along the ridge. It was challenging to do some of the ridge track with a pack on. I got a deeper appreciation for nature and saw some good views.”

“This camp held some of the coolest walks I have ever done in my life. I also learnt many things about myself and was taught some good life lessons. I would recommend this camp to anyone who is interested in experiencing adrenaline rushes and loves the outdoors.”
