Recently our amazing, Year 12 Stirling student Benjamin Wilson competed at the Junior American Cup in California for diving. This was Ben's 3rd time representing Australia internationally.
He also had the honour of being named the Australian team Captain for the trip, and competed in 3 events, 3 meter, 1 meter, and 3 meter Synchronised.
This was his best preforming comp to date, finishing 3rd on 3 meter, 3rd on 1 meter, and 2nd in the Synchronised 3 meter with his teammate Lachlan.
Competing against 5 other countries and over 20 athletes in his events, Ben managed to break multiple personal bests, achieve the highest scoring dive of the meet, and came home with a medal in all events.
This competition was also in preparation for the main event whilst juggling Y12 VCE, the Junior World Championships, which will be held in Rio at the end of the year.
He will attend the junior nationals in September to fight for his spot on the Australian team once more.
We are all so proud of your efforts, Ben and look forward to and hearing about your progress in the green and gold.
Unit 3 of Business Management required us to understand the operations process and its management for a business. To extend our knowledge, we had an excursion to Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery to learn about how they efficiently manage their operations and produce all types of chocolate. We had a chance to taste all the types of chocolates they output, like white, milk, dark and even ruby chocolate.
Apart from tasting and making our own chocolate treats to take home, we were met with the Chocolateries’ owner Leanne Neeland. We learnt all about how Yarra Valley Chocolaterie manages its operations, including how they ethically source their inputs, how they avoid water waste by reusing it for watering fruit trees around it, and feeding any waste food scraps to the farm animals. I think us students gained a lot of understanding about the operations management for a business, and it will hopefully help us in our future business management studies.

The Centre for Higher Education Studies (https://ches.vic.edu.au) provides high-achieving senior students from across Victorian government schools with opportunities for extension, acceleration, and enrichment as part of their overall VCE program, while remaining enrolled at their original school.
Applications will soon open for students to enrol in a 2025 HigherEducation Study (first year university subject) or a select VCE study through CHES.
CHES, offer the following VCE subjects for study in 2025:

In addition, we are further increasing the number of Higher Education Studies (HES) courses in 2025 to meet demand and expand options. There is no cost to students or schools for enrolment in these early-access university subjects. Following VCAA approval by the end of this month, we will publish the full list of HES courses available through CHES on our website.
On the first day of Term 3 (Monday 15 July), applications will open for 2025 VCE subjects and the 2025 Higher Education Studies through the CHES website: https://ches.vic.edu.au. Applications are not first-in, first-served; if students submit their application by Friday 30 August, their application will be considered.
All CHES programs are available through state-of-the-art hybrid learning and flexible after-hours scheduling, which enables students to engage online or on-site together with other high-achieving peers, irrespective of where they live in Victoria.
