Rail Safety Week: This week is Rail Safety Week and on Monday we had a visit from the TrackSafe Foundation to engage with our student in Years 3 – 6 and deliver a safety message about level crossings, the rail corridor, and signals and why safety is so important in these areas. Every life lost and injury on the rail network is a tragedy, and the impacts on family, friends, communities, rail and recovery staff, and witnesses can be profound. These incidents, together with thousands of near hits each year, can cause trauma, work-related stress, and illness to rail and recovery staff. During Rail Safety Week, rail operators, police, government, and community organisations organise endeavour to raise all our awareness of the importance of rail safety.
James Sheahan Musical: Our Year 6 students were lucky enough last Monday to attend a performance of "The Big Bad Musical" put on by the James Sheahan students. Thank you to James Sheahan for inviting us to this very special performance, and congratulations to all those involved in helping with the production of this musical.
SRC Toy and Book Sale: Yesterday the SRC ran their "Toy and Book Sale" to raise money for school improvements. It was a fabulous success, and a very special thank you to all for their willingness to donate and purchase items at this event. Our Infants children swarmed the Hall during Recess to 'grab a bargin', then our Primary students delved into to what was left at lunchtime! From small toys to board games, to well loved books to colourful toys, the Toy Sale rivalled even Santa's Sack! We now look forward to seeing the monetary benefits of the sale being put to use in the school. A very special mention to Mrs Kate Wright for her enthusiasm and commitment to our SRC and their endeavours.
Winter Sport: Our Year 3-6 students are thoroughly enjoying the opprtunity to attend Winter Sport each Thursday or Friday during this Term. Because traditonally the weather in Orange has been so unpredictable, we organise indoor activities that meet curriculum requiements and give student the opportunity to engage with different sports throughout the city. This year Years 3 & 4 are attending Gymnastics, Boxing, Ten Pin Bowling, Fitness, Dance and Indoor Cricket. Our Yr 5 & 6 students have a similar roster, however they will attend Pollets instead of Indoor Chricket. From all accounts, they are thoroughly enjoying these activities!
Year One Eisteddfod Entry: This Friday our Year One students, under the tutelage of Mrs Croke, will enter the Verse Speaking at the Orange Eisteddfod. We are very excited for their performance and wish them well! Hopefully we can enjoy listening to their efforts at an upcoming Assembly!
Have a great week!
