Qu’s and answers for Councillor Stuart James:

How does the Council ensure playgrounds in Monash will be maintained and improved in the years ahead?

Playgrounds: Monash Playground and Play space strategy  ( MP & P S) 2025-2035 has just been created and identifies the Play spaces indicatively scheduled for upgrade subject to funding over the next 10 years.

The MP&P Strategy 2025-2035 ensure Monash continues to have a planned, equitable and sustainable approach to the provision and management of play spaces in Monash.

What will be the current Council's legacy for Monash that my generation will look back at  in 10-20 years time?

Current Council legacy: Focus on youth services and early childhood with Family and child hubs created – parent groups, playgroups. Climate change – Monash recycling station – working on the issue of disposing soft plastics.

What can our local government do to ensure that my generation will be able to afford to live in Monash in the future?

Affordable housing in Monash – out of Council control – we can control the rates and Council expenses.

What will happen to Waverley Park once the Hawks move to Dingley, will local council ensure the facility is maintained?

Waverley Park:  The Council has taken over management of Waverley Park form Mirvac. They are developing a great playground and a Cafe and ensuring there is plenty of green space.

Many thanks to Mr Elliott for assisting the students in developing their questions.

The questions were excellent, and all 4 students spoke really well.
