LOTE

Although the weather has been a bit dingin (cold), we’ve been having lots of fun exploring our new topic in Indonesian!

Olympic Games Exploration

Our students have been diving into the world of the Olympic Games. They have been learning about various sports in which both Australian and Indonesian athletes compete. They’ve also been sharing their preferences for different sports, discussing which ones they like and dislike. Additionally, they’ve been exploring the symbolism of the Olympic rings and practicing their colours.

Traditional Folk Tales for Younger Students

Students in Prep, Year 1, and Year 2 have been captivated by traditional Indonesian folk tales about animals. These stories are not only entertaining, but also provide valuable cultural insights and language practice.

Athlete Research Projects for Older Students

Year 5 and Year 6 students have embarked on research, finding out information about their favourite Indonesian and Australian athletes, and the sports they compete in.

Performing Art

I am thrilled to share some exciting updates about our upcoming Production, Zoom!

Rehearsals are actively underway, and all students have enthusiastically started learning their songs.

Here are a few highlights from our rehearsals:

  • Song Mastery: Students have been diligently practicing their songs in their Performing Arts classes. Their progress has been remarkable, and I can't wait for you to hear their beautiful voices. I extend a heartfelt thank you to all teaching staff who have dedicated class time to practice the songs, ensuring every student has ample opportunity to rehearse together as a group!
  • Character Development: Alongside learning the music, students are also diving deep into their characters. They are exploring emotions, motivations, and the unique personalities that will bring their roles to life on stage.
  • Set Design and Costumes: I am seeking some volunteers from our community to help bring our Production to life by assisting with creating props, costumes and sets. Please reach out if you would like to help!

To the parents of all students in Years 5 and 6, I ask that you please support your child in regularly reviewing their lines. Each student has received their script and is required to bring it to school daily for rehearsals during lunchtimes.

Your encouragement and involvement make a world of difference!

As we move forward, please mark your calendars for the performance dates. We will be sharing more details soon regarding ticketing and other important information.
