Learning Across the ELC

Learning in the Preschool

In Preschool, we have been connecting the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum to our 'Same, Different, Unique' inquiry. We have been reading 'In My Heart: A book of feelings' then discussing and drawing our ideas about what feelings look, feel, and sound like, and taking photos too. We have also been able to link these conversations about feelings to our daily morning circle time, where we practice different breathing techniques each day as part of our preschool routine. Whilst feelings may present differently in all of us, the children have noticed that slowing our hearts down when we are scared, worried, sad or angry, is really important and something we can all do. When the SA Ambulance paramedics came to visit, they showed us the tools they use to keep us safe, and reinforced taking big slow deep breaths. The children were so excited to spend some time exploring the Ambulance and asking the paramedics questions.
