Japanese

Bawden Sensei

こんにちは!(Konnichiwa)from Japanese class!

I can not believe how quickly this term comes to the end of Week 8.

Foundation to grades 2 is busy learning numbers, simple one-line Hiragana, colours, and making some cherry blossom trees in the Japanese lessons. We used some Pokemon characters for colours and Hiragana, Japanese songs for numbers. Songs we are learning for Juniors' grades are Hajimaruyo (Shall we begin?) and Oni no pants (Demon's underwear) .  We have been practicing these songs to present in Japanese Fun Day!

In Grades 3 to 6 in the Harmony Week activity, we discussed how and why we celebrate Harmony Day and it is important for us to recognise our cultural diversity in the class. So we made the culture umbrellas to brainstorm what culture is all about and to understand what we do in Japanese lessons are not only languages, but also we learn art, music, customs, food, dress, holidays, and belief.  (I missed taking pictures of our wonderful students' drawings but I will put them out in the library soon)

We are looking for the Japanese Fun Day for this year and start planning what we can do and plan with the Senior grade. (I will let you all know once we finalise the date!)
