Around the rooms

A snapshot from the classrooms this fortnight

Kindergarten - Jacqueline Pribilovics

This week in Mathematics lessons, Kindergarten have been focusing on measurement. They investigated different ways of measuring length, area and volume, and used mathematical language to describe what they found.

Each week Kindergarten participates in Mathematics fluency rotations. This is a way for the students to focus on the accuracy and automation of number facts.

Year 1 - Eva Clinton

This week Year 1 learned about Pop Art. They used bright colours to create eye-catching shamrocks just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! They had a lot of fun with all of the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Everyone looked great in their sprinkle of green and had lots of fun taking part in some different Irish dances.

Year 2 - Aoife Geraghty

This week, our maths lessons have focused on exploring length using informal units like counters, paper clips, and even our own shoes! The students enjoyed measuring various objects both inside and outside the classroom, and recording their findings in their workbooks.. This resulted in an enjoyable learning experience for all! We all really enjoyed the St. Patrick's Day celebrations on Monday. The students wore a touch of green on Monday and learned how to do some Irish dancing!

Year 3 - Hannah Jory & Holley Giannikos

Year 3 have been working incredibly hard to prepare for NAPLAN and we are very proud of all their efforts and achievements. After each test, Year 3 have been engaged in wellbeing tasks which are designed to promote and enhance their overall wellness, encompassing physical, mental, emotional and social aspects of health. Year 3 has created proud clouds, participated in sport lessons, music and more!

Year 4 - Bella Abruzzese

In Art this fortnight, Year 4 have started their weaving project. We look forward to seeing what amazing designs and objects they will create!

Stage 3 - Anna Kelly & Laura Courtenay

Year 5- Anna Kelly

Year 5 is very happy to be finished with NAPLAN.  We are so proud of each and every student for all of the hard work and effort that they put into preparing for the exams! However, the grind doesn’t stop here! We have been exploring place value and experimenting with rounding big numbers to help us with our estimating skills.

Year 6  Laura Courtenay

Year 6 has been busy secretly preparing some Easter surprises for Kindergartens. Next week they will host an Easter scavenger hunt for all their buddies. We will share the excitement and joy in our next newsletter. For now a sneak peek into what we have been preparing, lots of surprises to come.
