1/2 AS Learning 

In Mathematics we have been working on the process of addition and subtraction.  Some students have been focussing on numbers that add to ten, some have been using tens frames to add and subtract one and two digit numbers while others have been renaming and regrouping to add and subtract 3 digit numbers.

In Literacy we have been identifying common nouns, proper nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs and pronouns in our shared text each session. We have continued to work in our reading groups, participating in guided reading with the teacher who explicitly teaches new reading skills. We have also been completing spelling activities, reading fictional texts and completing activities that relate to our Little Learners Love Literacy phonics program throughout the week. This week the phoneme is the long ‘o’ sound and the digraph is ‘oa’.  In writing, the students have been focussing on writing a narrative story identifying the characters, the setting and the events that will be in the story.
