SUSTAINABILITY NEWS

I (Ms Belinda) am attending some Professional Development at Mother Teresa Primary School this week and have been learning about some amazing and inspiring initiatives their school has been involved in. Their students have worked very hard at reducing waste and by having Nude Food lunches, with no packaging in their lunchboxes every day, have become a “packaging free” school. This means they don’t even need rubbish bins in any classrooms! All food scraps go to compost or worm farms and no food packaging comes to school. The students proudly told us how they learned to buy bulk packets of biscuits, chips etc, and divide the food up into containers, rather than buying individual small packets. These little changes saved their parents money and created less waste. Food for thought!

NUDE FOOD DAY - MONDAYS

We ask students to choose foods which create no rubbish to bring for lunch on this day. Some great ideas can be found at https://www.nudefoodday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/HOW-TO-PACK-A-NUDE-FOOD-LUNCH.pdf
