Prep - 2 Grandparents/VIP Day - Wednesday, 19th March, 2025

As part of our P-1 Inquiry unit, Personal and Family Histories, and the Grade 1-2 & 2/3 unit, The Past in the Present, we are excited to host Grandparents/VIP Day at school!

An invitation went out to our Prep - 2 Units families on Thursday 6th March, invitinggrandparents (or another special person if grandparents are unavailable) to join us in our classrooms. This will be a wonderful opportunity for them to share their school experiences, participate in activities with their grandchildren, and reflect on how things have changed over time.

Please see Compass post for more information. Our Grade 3's will be participating in NAPLAN at this time.

International Women's Day

On Thursday, 6th March, students at Altona North Campus participated in a special event to celebrate International Women’s Day. We were fortunate to welcome three inspirational women from our community for a panel discussion: Sammi Dobson from Mamma Knows WEST, Victoria Police Officer Cay, and Albee Damnics, Hobsons Bay Young Citizen of the Year.

They shared their experiences and offered valuable advice to younger generations, encouraging students to build confidence, step outside their comfort zones, speak up against inappropriate behaviour, and learn from their mistakes. They emphasized the unique strengths we all possess and inspired students to support and uplift one another.

Our SRC students did an outstanding job hosting the event. They spoke with confidence and maturity, representing our school with pride. The audience was fully engaged, asking thoughtful questions such as, “What can men do to call out or stop sexism?”

Students left today’s celebration with a deeper understanding that when we listen, advocate, and challenge inequality, we move closer to a world where opportunity and respect are based on potential—not gender.
