In our schools, much of what feels urgent is actually false urgency—a flurry of activity that doesn't lead to much progress. False urgency can cause stress, burnout, and hinder creativity and progress. The first step in addressing this is recognizing it.
As leaders, we must use strategies to eliminate false urgency, including:
Being able to differentiate between real and false urgency is a crucial leadership skill. By doing so, we can create a workplace where teams focus on meaningful tasks, thrive, and achieve lasting success.
