Professional Learning Teams

 

This term Professional Learning Teams (PLT) will continue to work on our focus of reflective, responsive teaching for differentiatied learning. Please see our new Differentiation Toolkit above of how we differentiate at Jackson School. This is based upon Carol Ann Tomlinson's model of differentation supported by the Disability Inclusion Domains and Activities. Our Peer Observation template has been modified to reflect this.

 

Collaborative and collectively understanding the individual learning needs of each student is the professional learning priority this year. In PLTs and Jackson Learner sessions, we will continue to use the FISO improvement cycle to provide universal adjustments, support strategies and interventions in order to plan the next steps in learning and monitor progress and growth over time.

 

Our Primary PLTs will have allocated time to focus on the Little Learners Love Literacy phonics program. For more information, watch the About LLLL Video below or visit LLLL Science of Reading page:

Jackson Learner Dashboard & Student Maps

 

We are currently working with Xuno to integrate GradeXpert's Student Maps. From Term 3, this is where all student assessment data, the Jackson Learner Profile and Behaviour Support Plans will be located. Some of this historic data and forms are already in Student Maps. To take a sneak peek, click on Student Maps in the Xuno left-hand navigation pane. 

 

We will continue to use the Jackson Learner Dashboards in PowerBI. These have now updated for 2024. This will be focused more around our Wellbeing data (CGOLS, Attendance and PBIS). Please can be accessed by clicking the tile on The Portal or links in Teams Staffroom (General) or Xuno.

 

This can be used by staff to view a snapshot of contextual groups of learners (CGOLS) in their class, year level, cohort or whole school. Staff can also filter my individual students.

Smart Notebook Software and Interactive Whiteboards

 

We have purchased Smart Notebook as our consistent software package for the interactive whiteboards due to different versions of the Epson compatible projectors across the school. You can also use the full functionality on our new conference room interactive display boards. In Term 1 we had a professional learning workshop to familiarise us with how to use the interactive functionality of your projectors and not just as an AirPlay projector screen. 

 

Following this training, we released a school-wide Jackson Teaching Toolkit as a template with consistent teacher tools including LI and SC backgrounds, paper backgrounds, timers, visuals, schedules, PBIS posters etc. We will also include activities for the 9am-9:20am morning circle session with a calendar, weather, Zones Check-in, Jackson Social etc.
