What a great adventure was had by all!!
Last week, the Year 5 campers travelled to Philip Island Adventure Resort for their camping experience.
The weather was good allowing all camp activities to proceed as planned. The many camp activities included the Giant Swing, archery, raft making, twin flying fox, canoeing, camp cooking, the Circotron and Team Rescue.
A Concert Night and Movie Night were held in the evenings.
I would like to thank the students for the manner in which they participated in the camp activities, and for their behaviour demonstrating that they remembered our school values. The experience was a positive one and our students again showed that Greenvale kids are GREAT kids.
Thanks to the teachers and parents who attended and gave three days of their time to make the camping experience such a memorable one for all the students. Thanks to Bay Fikri who organised the camp, to the school staff Nicola Dean, Fabio Cordona and Brett McGinniskin, and to the parents Vedia Akdag, Maurice Vinci, Nicole Akehurst and Hatice Ozdemir.
This year, World Teachers Day in Australia is being celebrated on Friday, 25 October in recognition of the contribution teachers make to education across the globe. This day is celebrated in over 100 countries. Research states that the most important element that makes a difference to student outcomes is the teacher. In our rapidly changing and interdependent world, teachers not only have to ensure that students acquire solid skills in basic subjects, but also that they become responsible local and global citizens, at ease with new technologies and able to make informed decisions about health, the environment and other challenges.
Maybe your child could show their appreciation of their teacher by creating a card or writing a poem / letter?
Food for Thought
