SCHOOL FINISHES TERM ON A HIGH NOTE
Donald High’s Annual Battle of the Bands took place on the last day of Term 3. Forty students from years 7-12, along with a number of their teachers, presented a music extravaganza in which 16 songs were performed to an enthusiastic audience.
School Captains Miranda Sy and Brady Griffiths functioned as MC’s and introduced the various acts. Thirteen members of the School Choir performed Stick Season, You Belong with Me and Someone to You. Year 7 girl’s Patience Beavis and Nevaeh Pearse sang Oklahoma Smokeshow followed by Luca Rice, Maya Funcke and Baxter Donnellon singing I Remember Everything. Elijah Mansibang then enthralled the audience with his instrumental, Pirates of the Caribbean, on guitar. Victory Davis and Sophie Burke sang You Should be Sad, Stay and Looks Like Me, with Victory performing Adele’s Rolling in The Deep. Halle Rice, Maya Funcke, Milla Adams and Evie Donnellon then performed a lively rendition of Mamma Mia. Maya Funcke then sang two Olivia Rodrigo songs All I Want and Traitor.
Then it was teacher Stuart Potter turn to “strut his stuff” by singing Without You and then producing a lively performance of Another One Bites the Dust and Mustang Sally.
All songs were performed to a high standard which showed off the wealth of musical talent in the student and staff ranks.
I would like to thank all the performers who played instruments and sang on the day and it was a fun way to finish the term for the school’s music students. I was immensely proud of all my music students.
