Chaplaincy Book Fair
Chaplaincy Book Fair
An amazing total was raised at the Horsham College Chaplaincy Committee Book Fair last Friday and Saturday. A record $5250 was banked from the October event which traditionally earns a smaller amount for the chaplain’s support group.
The Book Fair sells pre-loved books for $1 each with the funds used to pay 60% of the chaplain’s wage, allowing Yolande to provide care for the school community through a variety of feeding programs, special events and celebrations alongside one-on-one help and referrals.
Without the energy of a range of volunteers – including Rotary - the Book Fair simply would not have happened! The amazing engineering brains and pure grit of Mrs Fitzgerald’s and Ms Shelly’s Year 8 and Year 9 students – who set up the hall for the event – were truly appreciated. Thank you team!!
Happy shoppers moved many books from Maroske Hall to their homes, with remaining books recycled if they were tatty, repacked if they were lovely and sent overseas to needy children if they were written for children.
The Chaplaincy Committee thank everyone who supported the event!
P.S. The ‘Burn Book’ we found (refer to the movie Mean Girls) turned out to be a Math Methods text book – sorry Mr Rigas 😊
A sample of our Year 8 helpers.
Joe Bawden and Casey Long take home a couple of books to read.
A special find during the sale.
