Ryan’s Rambling
Dear Families,
Some quite warm weather hit us this week, which was lovely for some, but challenging for others. It would be nice if mother nature could ease us into summer, rather than thrust it at us!
This week, our staff have begun the enormous job of end of semester assessments in preparation for academic report writing. In line with this, we have had several conversations in class about the importance of a Growth Mindset and how we want our students to “have a red-hot go”. Sometimes, students put excessive and undue pressure on themselves, conjuring feelings that they have to perform, or be the best. We want them to be ‘their’ best; nothing more, nothing less. Whilst we are on the topic of reports, please remember that we have a student free day on the 18th of November. Thank you for your support.
I am excited for our Art Show next week. Dee has been working around the clock to make sure that our school is going to be ready. Please bring along a picnic dinner to enjoy at the Art Show. There will be a coffee van present for those who feel the need for a quick caffeine hit. This year, we have a number of exhibitions of students’ work that I do believe will impress even the harshest art critic. It will be a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their many talents. Please make sure that you come along. We begin from 4:30 on Tuesday afternoon.
I need to inform the community of a change in staffing. Our Physical Education teacher, Zara, has tendered her resignation from Dana Street Primary School this week, effective immediately. This was a very difficult decision for Zara. I would like to make it clear that she has done an incredible job of leading our sporting program this year, including providing a number of extra curriculum opportunities to our students. I would like to thank Zara for her hard work this year. For the remainder of the year, we are lucky that Kylie Watson will be stepping in as our PE teacher. Kylie is a regular Casual Relief Teacher here at Dana Street and knows our students well.
Have a fantastic weekend.
Ryan
