Carnegie Fest Wrap Up

Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to join us on the last Wednesday of Term 3 for our inaugural Carnegie Music Festival. We could not have asked for a better day, with the sun shining brightly.

Our students graced their classrooms in the morning all dressed up in their finest outfits ready to put on a show like never before. From cavemen and cavewomen to Freddie Mercury impersonators, there were many delightful characters all around. For many, this was their first time performing in front of a large audience on a massive stage, but ever determined, all students did a fantastic job. Nerves turned to excitement, excitement turned to fun, and class after class belted out terrific voices and followed choreographed dances to famous tunes, exhibiting a true Carnegie spirit. Each performance had its own wonderful highlight and as a school and community, we could not be more proud.

Throughout the day, when classes were not performing, students engaged with multiple fun activities to help bring our festival to life. Parties were going off in our silent disco room, students were transforming into butterflies and other colourful creations with our face painting station, and students were striking out in our rainbow miniature bowling. It was really special to see students during the day with massive smiles on their faces. Best way to finish a term.

By the afternoon, when all classes had finished their concerts, it was time for our rockstar musicians to jump up on the stage and showcase their talents. We are very lucky at Carnegie to have so many amazing guitarists, pianists, and keyboardists… and we are sure there are many other gifted students too with awesome skills and talents.

This day was special in the history of our school, and we hope it imprints memories for our students to take with them for the rest of their lives. Thank you to our PFA, volunteering parents and music teachers in helping our staff put this all together.

Let’s hope we have many more music festivals to come.
