SAVE THE DATE - End of Term 4 and Academic Year - Wednesday 11 December, 2024

SAVE THE DATE - Speech Day - Wednesday 11 December, 2024 - 11.00am - 1.00pm, State Theatre, Sydney

Year 3 to Year 12 Speech Day will be held again this year at the State Theatre in Market Street, Sydney. 

It is an expectation that all girls in Years 3 - 12 attend in full school uniform with a parent/s to hear the address and support students who will receive prizes.

A Speech Day official invitation will be sent in coming weeks from the school for Year 3 to Year 12 parents.

Massie House sisters who attend Speech Day will need to attend in their school uniform.

SAVE THE DATE - Massie House 

The final day of school for girls in Massie House will be Tuesday 10 December, 2024 (normal dismissal times apply). 

Year 2 Merit Assembly will be held on Friday 6 December, 2024 from 9.00 - 10.30am in the Music Performance Theatre at Kambala. Parents of girls in Year 2 are warmly invited to attend.

Year 1 Excursion Sydney Tramway Museum - Wednesday 23 October, 2024

We're excited to announce that our Year 1 students will be taking a step back in time on Wednesday 23 October with a visit to the Sydney Tramway Museum. 

 

This fun-filled day out will be led by Ranger Jamie, known for creating engaging and interactive educational experiences for children. Our young learners will have the chance to experience a bit of Sydney's history firsthand. The students will enjoy a real tram ride through the beautiful Royal National Park, explore old trams in the museum, and even try their hand at sketching these fascinating vehicles. They'll hear interesting stories about Sydney's past, including a tale about a famous prison tram escape that's sure to capture their imagination! Ranger Jamie's expertise will ensure the excursion is both educational and entertaining, helping our students see how transportation has changed over time. We're looking forward to a day of discovery and excitement that will create lasting memories for our Year 1 students.

 

On this excursion, students should wear their Sports uniform including their house polo shirt, sports shorts, zip sports jacket (NO FLEECES are to be worn and track pants only over shorts if the weather is cold) sports cap, yellow ribbons and sneakers. Please be sure to apply sunscreen prior to leaving the house in the morning.

Students will leave school at 8.00am and return to school at 3.00pm and are required to bring all food and water for the day in their black Kambala excursion bag. Please ensure your daughter arrives to school on time on this day!

No canteen lunch orders will be available on the day. 

The students will return on time to school for  usual carline collection or Extra Curricular activities.

Massie Art Show - Massie House - Thursday 24 October, 2024 - 5.00 - 6.30pm

Massie Parents and Carers (Preparation - Year 2) are warmly invited to attend the Massie Art Show. 

 

**Please note - all Massie Students are to wear full Summer Uniform for the Art Show.

If girls have Sport/PE scheduled on this day, they are to bring their Summer uniform to change into.

Jam on Toast Music Incursion - Friday 25 October, 2024

On Friday 25 October, Hampshire Toddler and Preschool rooms, Massie Preparation, Kindergarten and Year 1 classes will be attending a Music Incursion - Jam on Toast.

 

At these performances the classes will experience a unique, educational & thoroughly enjoyable music concert, specifically aimed to actively involve children, with non-stop singing, dancing & jamming!

Crossing The Lawn Year 2 Parent Information Session over Zoom - Monday 28 October, 2024 - 9.00 - 10.00am

Kindergarten Ranger Jamie Excursion - Nielsen Park - Tuesday 29 October, 2024

On Tuesday 29 October, Year 2 students will be travelling to Nielsen Park aspart of their Geography Unit on People Live in Places. Students will enjoy investigating the importance of different places, to people and living things. They will interact with stunning environments in the great outdoors, compare this to the places they live in, and examine varying environments including wetlands, water lagoons, bushland and beaches.

 

Students will travel by bus from Kambala to Nielsen Park.  On this excursion, students should wear their sports uniform including their white polo shirt, shorts and yellow hat. Please apply SUNSCREEN prior to coming to school.  

 

Students will leave school at 9:40am and return to school at 2:15pm and are required to bring all their own food and water for the day in their black Kambala excursion bag. Please ensure your daughter arrives to school on time. 

 

Please note - NO CANTEEN ORDERS ON THIS DAY - all food and water must be taken with the girls on the bus in the morning.

Preparation Sports Morning - Wednesday 30 October, 2024 - Kambala Oval - 9.15 - 10.00am

Year 1 Excursion "Art Lives Here" - Art Gallery of NSW - Thursday 31 October, 2024

On Thursday 31 October, as part of the Visual Arts curriculum, Year 1 students will participate in the ‘Art Lives Here’ tour at the Art Gallery of NSW. In this learning tour, led by experienced Art Gallery educators, the girls will be introduced to key artworks in the Art Gallery’s collection, examine different gallery spaces, and discover new ways of looking at and thinking about art and museum collections. Art Lives Here is designed to engage students with a range of artistic practices, and to spark curiosity about art and museums, as well as critical thinking about art and ideas. 

 

Students will travel by private bus to and from the Art Gallery of NSW, on Art Gallery Road, Sydney.

 

On this excursion, students should wear their Sports uniform (including House polo shirt, sports jacket, track pants, sports cap) and bring a packed recess AND lunchwater bottle, sunscreen, raincoat (if wet weather) in their black excursion bag.

Test and Quest Day Information for Current Year 6 Parents and Students - Friday 1 November, 2024

We are very much looking forward to your daughter joining Year 7 in 2025.

In preparation for her commencement, all Year 6 students will participate in our Test and Quest Day on Friday 1 November 2024 at Kambala.

 

Test and Quest is a compulsory annual event for all students entering Year 7. It is an informative day, filled with fun orientation activities, designed to bring our current students and new students together, in preparation for their senior years. 

In addition to the activities, there is also an assessment component conducted in the morning. This testing covers English, Mathematics and General Ability categories. Please reassure your daughter this is not an entrance exam; every Year 7 starter (current and new) sits these tests, and they are designed to assist with appropriate staffing levels for 2025.

 

Please note the following times and details for Friday 01 November:

8.15am Students and Parents/Carers

Students and parents are asked to enter the school at either the Tivoli Avenue Gate 1 or the New South Head Road Gate 4. Current Kambala students will be stationed at the gates for your arrival to assist with directions. There is no car parking available onsite.

Students are to arrive in their Kambala sports uniform and bring a sports hat, drink bottle, a pencil and 2 black or blue pens in a small bag. 

8.30am Students 

Students will be directed to the Alexander Hall for the testing component of the day.

8.30am - 9.30 am Parents/Carers

Parents are invited to the Tivoli forecourt for refreshments, followed by a presentation by key staff. 

Tours of the senior school will be available at the conclusion of the presentation.

10.30am Students 

Break for morning tea, which will be provided.

12.30pm Students 

Break for lunch, which will be provided – click here to advise any dietary requirements or medical conditions (those requirements will also be applicable for morning tea)

1.30pm Students 

After lunch the girls will take part in the “quest” component of the day, which includes entertaining and bonding activities, touring of the senior school and meeting senior school teaching staff. These activities are conducted in House groups. 

3.20pm Students and Parents/Carers 

Test and Quest Day concludes. 

Girls may be collected as usual from the Tivoli carline or proceed to their usual extra-curricular afternoon activities.

We are delighted to announce the Year 6 Somerset Camp is taking place from Tuesday 5 – Friday 8 November, 2024.

 

Somerset Outdoor Learning Centre, Colo has been offering Outdoor Programs to school students since the early 1980's. As an industry leader with over 35 years of expertise, Somerset offers a unique blend of learning experiences, outdoor facilities and activities delivered in a professionally managed Outdoor Education Program.

 

Information for parents, permission, dietary and medical forms as well as equipment lists have been sent to parents.
