Principal's Message
Mr Forrest
I hope everybody had a great September holiday break and now ready for the final school term for 2024. We wish the Year 12 & all VCE students all the very best for the upcoming exams in week four and for their final formal day of classes on Friday the 18th of October.
With the weather warming up its time to think about our safety again as we are more inclined to be out and about. Please remember to always wear helmets when riding bikes and scooters. Also keep an eye out for any slithery snake friends as they are on the move at the moment.
A reminder that on Monday 4th of November is a Curriculum Day and the following day is the Melbourne Cup public holiday. In the past everyone has appreciated the double long weekend as it is the last mini break before Christmas.
Please keep an eye out on COMPASS, Facebook for all information regarding school events this term.
Also please share our Year 9 students podcast far and wide as the students did an amazing job at the end of last term. In a David versus Goliath battle little Wedderburn College takes on the much larger Swan Hill College to see who wins the new podcasting equipment. The only way to win is to have everyone listen to our student's podcast to receive a vote. The link and more information are included within this edition of the newsletter.
We are excited to announce that great progress has been made over the last few months and we will be aiming to start moving into the new science classrooms and canteen outdoor area from week 4. Although this is exciting it also means that we will be having to move out of the back wing so that stage 2 works can commence. Also after several delays the works on the KLC will be starting very soon.
This stage will cause serious disruption to our movements around the school and access to different areas of the school. I urge everybody to remain positive and think about the 'Big Picture' and focus on what awesome facilities we will end up with not the annoying disruptions!
No Access to Chapel Street Car Park
Chapel Street from 4th of November we will not be able to park any cars in Chapel Street at all until further notice.
This also impacts:
Expected Key Dates
Major Classroom Moves
We may have to make further changes.
Thanks for your understanding
Win a prize by naming the Wedderburn College Cookbook.
'Wedderburnt Cookbook' - surely you can do better than that!
Submit your ideas to the school, be crafty, use your imagination! You never know your name might win!
On the 1st of July 2025 it will be 160 years to the day when a school officially opened in Wedderburn. The 160 Years of Education will be celebrated the last week of Term 2, 2025 with a variety of activities across the week to embrace this monumental occasion. One of the key features of the celebrations will be the launch of a hard cover, 200 page, coffee table recipe & history book. We are now calling on families to submit their favorite recipes or Grandmas greatest hidden secrets to be considered for publication in this important book. Please understand that we are happy to take several recipes from families and community members, however it will not be possible for every recipe to be published. Not everyone will have a recipe published. We have the rest of this term to submit recipes. Please use the format attached to submit your recipes, see below.
