Arts News
It was wonderful to see the beautiful production last weekend. It was so much fun to have all the interwoven musicals and engaging numbers from past productions. Congratulations to everyone involved. It’s also very exciting to have the musical Aladdin Jr in its development stages for 2025. This promises to be something to look forward to.
We are gearing up for an exciting few weeks in the Arts! Radio Active is always a great night coming up next week.

Reflections on the Pipe Band
The Pipe Band is an opportunity for the school to be recognised by the Albany community. This is demonstrated through the performances at the ANZAC day parade and at the Albany Agricultural Show. Being involved with the Pipe Band you learn values such as teamwork, commitment, and hard work. You learn how to work as a team when you are having to play a tune within a group. You learn commitment by showing up every week so that the band is sounding its best, and you learn hard work through the hours of practice that you must put into learning the songs. Whatever band or ensemble that you are in these values are visible, but being in the Pipe Band helps to shape these values.
The band is led by Mr Andrew Davis (bagpipe teacher), Mr Greg Watson (drum teacher), and Mrs Marina Gordon (Pipe Band manager). These teachers help to develop the students’ skills and to organise performances. The Pipe Band is a great opportunity to be involved with the school and Albany community. The thrill you get during, and after, performances is unmatched. If you are interested in joining the Pipe Band please speak to the Music Department, and, for more information about the band, feel free to speak to any of the members.
