Co-curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

It feels like only yesterday that we started trials for the Winter season. In the blink of an eye, or more accurately a rainy day, the season has come to an end. In a challenging season where the weather played a significant role, the Junior School (Stage 3) was able to play 206 fixtures across the three codes. Of the 206 fixtures, St Patrick’s teams won a total of 143 games. This gives the Junior School a 69%-win rate. When you factor in draws, the Junior School had a no loss percentage of 77.6%. Looking at these figures, this has been a very successful Winter season. It is a shame that we had a total of 120 games missed due to byes or wet weather.

I would like to thank all our boys for their tireless efforts on and off the field for the Winter season. They have shown great dedication, enthusiasm and patience and our results are proof of this. To all our parents/carers and extended families, a huge vote of thanks for all your efforts in getting the boys to and from training sessions and games. Without your support, we wouldn’t have the opportunity to compete. Lastly, to all our coaches. Thank you for your planning of training sessions, management of games and care for our boys. Your guidance and development of our players has been obvious, and we have been able to compete well through the season. I hope that you enjoyed the season working with our boys and look forward to seeing many of you back again for the 2025 Winter season.

As winter sport has concluded, there will be no further winter sport training this term. Boys in possession of any College equipment, such as goalkeeper jerseys, need to return it to Mr Locke this week please. Sport training re-commences in earnest in Term 4, with the resumption of the Summer season. All boys that played in Term 1 are expected to fulfill their commitments and play for their team in Term 4. Draft draws and training schedules will be released closer to the end of Term 3.

While many boys are enjoying a well-earned rest, 20 boys from the Junior School will be representing the College in Athletics. The Junior School Athletics season is a short, but furious affair. The boys will compete in four carnivals over a period of two and a half weeks. The season culminates with the IPSHA Carnival on Wednesday 28 August. Boys successful at this carnival will move on to represent IPSHA at the NSWCIS Carnival later in the term. We wish all the boys involved the best of luck for the coming Athletics season.

I hope that everyone enjoys a few Saturday morning sleep-ins over the next few weeks, and I look forward to hearing the results of our Athletics squad’s participation at upcoming carnivals.
